| Objective: To develop a childhood obesity health literacy scale(Parental Edition),and examine the reliability and validity of the scale. To study the correlation between parents health literacy in hefei and childhood obesity, provide evidences for health education. Methods: Based on the connotation of health literacy and the content of ending childhood obesity from WHO.We constructed the item pool of the health literacy scale. The scale was then administered to three elementary schools students’ pare nts for pre-investigation in hefei. The validity of the scale was examined by using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, and examined the rel iability of the scale and the subscales by measuring their internl consistency. The SPSS22.0 was used for multiple linear regression analysis of parents health liter acy in hefei.Results:(1)2170 elementary schools students’ parents were investigated in our survey. And the scale finally formed and contained 29 iteams after screening the items by the methods of sensibility analysis, representative analysis, independence analysis and Cronbach’s alpha coeffticient.Exploratory factor analysis identified five subscales.Based on confirmatory factor analysis, the iteams were grouped into five subscales representing health concept:health knowledge, health behaviors, health cognitive and operatioal skills. The indicators of confirmatory factor were well: root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA)was 0.047,root mean square(RMR)was 0.026,comparative fit index(GFI)was 0.934,normed fit index(NFI)was 0.865,relative fit index(RFI)was 0.85 and comparative fit index(CFI)was 0.885,showing a better model fitting. The Cronbach’s alpha coeffticient for the health scale was 0.833 and the each corresponding figures for the subscales were 0.618,0.633,0.667,0.755 and 0.866.(2).After adjusted by gende r,age, occupations, the score of health concept, health knowledge, health behaviors,he alth cognitive and operatioal skills was increased with the increase of education l evel and household income(P<0.05).After adjusted by age, education level, hous ehold income, occupations, the female score of health concept, health knowledge, heal th behaviors, health cognitive and operatioal skills was significantly higher than th e males(P<0.05).After adjusted bygender, education level, household income, the dif ferrence of age, occupations were not statically significant(P>0.05).Obesity childr en parents score of health concept, health knowledge, health behaviors, health cogni tive and operatioal skills was lower than non-obese children parents(P=0).Conclusion The childhood obesity health literacy scale(Parental Edition)demon strated relatively good validity and reliability.Obesity children parents’ health liter acy was lower than those of non-obese children parents, the parents’ health literac y needs further improvment. |
