Objective: to observe the clinical effect and safety of xuming decoction in treating syndrome of phlegm stagnation complicated with cerebral infarction. Methods: This study has included 60 cases of patient, who achieved the diagnostic criteria and treated in the Department of Encephalopathy of first affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2017 to December 2017.they were randomly divided into control group and treatment group with 30 cases for each group. The control group was given basic treatment, the treatment group was additionally treated with xuming decoction,2 weeks for a period of treatment.National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),activities of daily living scale Barthel index(BI),modified Rankin scale(MRS)of actually finished activities of daily living,TCM syndrome score and TCM syndrome curative effect were used for evaluation. The adverse reactions of patients in each group before and after treatment were recorded and their safety was evaluated, and to observe the comparison of difference in data between the two groups and their statistical analysis. And to evaluate its clinical efficacy and safety comprehensively.Results:(1)In terms of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),the two groups were comparable to each other before the treatment(P>0.05),the difference between two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),the result showed that, the treatment group was better than control group;(2)In terms of activities of daily living scale Barthel index(BI),the two groups were comparable to each other before the treatment(P>0.05),the difference between two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),the differences in differential value between two groups before and after treatment were statistically significant(P<0.05),the treatment group was better than control group;(3)Modified Rankin scale(MRS)of actually finished activities of daily living, the two groups were comparable to each other before the treatment(P>0.05),the difference between two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),the result showed that, the treatment group was better than control group;(4)TCM syndrome score: the differences in TCM syndrome score before and after treatment between two groups were all statistically significant. It was indicated by inter-group comparison that, the TCM syndrome was significantly improved in both treatment group and control group, but the treatment group was better;(5)TCM syndrome curative effect, the two groups were comparable to each other before the treatment(P>0.05),the difference between two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),the result showed that, the treatment group was better than control group;(6)Evaluation of safety: no evident change has been found in the results of blood, urine and stool routine test, liver and kidney function examination, coagulation function and ECG examination of both groups before and after treatment, the differences between both groups before and after treatment were all not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: Xuming decoction can improve the degree of neurologic impairment of patients with syndrome of phlegm stagnation complicated with cerebral infarction, and improve their ability of daily living activity, and TCM syndrome. The clinical efficacy is definite. It is safe and has no side effect.
