Objective The aim of this study was to examine the plasma concentrations of IL-35 in newly diagnosed COPD patients and control subjects and investigate correlations of CRP,lung function with the levels of IL-35 in plasma. Methods Choose from September 2013 to June 2014 in our hospital respiratory medicine hospital diagnosed patients with acute exacerbation of COPD 20 patients, namely AECOPD group;choose follow-up period of 20 Outpatient diagnosed with stable COPD,namely COPD stable group;choose 20 cases of healthy volunteers in Medical center over the same period, that the healthy control group. All subjects were collected clinical data, pulmonary function measurement records, using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)to detect the concentration of IL-35 of all subject’s serum IL-35.Results(1)The serum levels of IL-35 of group AECOPD(10.92±4.25)ng/ml were significantly lower than those of group COPD in stable stage(18.86±6.24)ng/ml and healthy controls(55.69±3.58)ng/ml(P<0.01,P<0.01);the serum levels of IL-35 of group COPD in stable stage were significantly lower than those of healthy controls(P<0.01).(2)Pulmonary function test of FEV1%Pred of group AECOPD(35.49 ±5.52)were significantly lower than the healthy control group(96.02±12.22)(P<0.01),stable COPD group(36.40±9.30)were significantly lower than the healthy control group(P<0.01);pulmonary function test of FEV1/FVC of group AECOPD(48.68±10.27)were significantly lower than the healthy control group(99.31±8.20)(P<0.01),stable COPD group(43.64 ±11.13)were significantly lower than the healthy control group(P<0.01).(3)The serum levels of IL-35 of all the subjects were positively related to FEV1%pred,P<0.001,r=0.953;the serum levels of IL-35 of all the subjects were positively related to FEV1/FVC,P<0.001,r=0.901.Conclusion:The serum levels of IL-35 of COPD patients were significantly lower than patients with stable COPD and healthy people, suggesting that IL-35 levels in serum may promote the inflammatory response occurs, participating in the occurrence, development of acute exacerbations of COPD.Serum levels of anti inflammatory factor IL-35 was positively correlated with pulmonary function.
