Objective: The clinical diagnosis of patients depends heavily on the results of tests,of which laboratory tests often provide the majority. However, every step of the clinical examination can lead to errors(from the application of the clinician to the collection and transportation of the specimen, from the release of the results to the interpretation of the laboratory test sheet),which are unavoidable due to the complexity of the clinical examination. This study investigated and analyzed the present situation of laboratory inspection quality index of 163 medical institutions in Xinjiang, and provided the basis for improving the quality level of laboratory in Xinjiang. Methods: By using network,350 questionnaires were issued to clinical laboratories of medical institutions. The data reported within 40 days was analyzed by Microsoft Excel 2007 and SPSS13.0.Results: Clinical laboratories in 350 medical institutions have only 163 laboratory return data.13 indicators expressed in rate were further evaluated with σ scales. For 11 indicatorsthe overall sigma levels of were higher thanminimum acceptable level(3σ).For the rest 3 indicators, overall sigma levels were all less than 1.Significant differences were found for the rates of quality indicators in different scales of laboratories and diverse disciplines.Furthermore, the time of TAT(biochemical,immunological,3 routine, hemagglutination)was measured by the questionnaire. Conclusion: From the investigation,we could found that intra-analytical quality control is relatively weak in Xinjiang province.Laboratory information system should be improved to ensure reliable data collection and routine monitoring work.Secondly, the opening and developing rate of laboratory inspection quality index in Xinjiang medical institutions is low, especially the initiation rate of indoor complaint project and the participation rate of room interstitial evaluation project.Medical institutions in Xinjiang do not have sufficient knowledge of the requirements for quality indicators and need regular training.
