Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is a kind of medical science formed by medical practice of Chinese ancient medicine for more than two thousand years.But with the introduction of western medicine and the its spread in China in modern times,due to the differences of culture,diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese and western medicine,there is an endless debate about the retention and abolition of traditional Chinese medicine in various academic circles.The essence of the argument is the scientific nature of traditional Chinese medicine.The negator believe that the theory,diagnosis and treatment of TCM are not scientific and should be abolished.The people who accept TCM believes that the theory,diagnosis and treatment of TCM are scientific and should not be abolished.The question of whether traditional Chinese medicine is scientific is related to the lifeblood of the retention and abolition of traditional Chinese medicine.Chapter 1takes the time as the mainline,and this paper expounds the the argumentation situation of three major debates on the retention and abolition of TCM from the period of the Beiyang Government of the Republic of China to the founding of New China,as well as the basic situation of the debate on the retention and abolition of the contemporary TCM.Through the exposition of the comments and articles published by yea-sayer and negator towards the argumentation of scientific nature of modern Chinese medicine,the basic concepts and opinions of the supporters and opponents of traditional Chinese medicine are combed out.Chapter 2 expounds that one of the reasons that cause the debate on the scientific nature of traditional Chinese medicine is that people do not really understand traditional Chinese medicine,and konws the nature of traditional Chinese medicine from the theory of traditional traditional Chinese medicine,traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis,traditional Chinese medicine treatment to understand the essence of traditional Chinese medicine.In order to truly see clearly whether the traditional Chinese medicine is scientific or not,we must have a comprehensive and correct understanding of the theoretical system of the above-mentioned traditional Chinesemedicine.Chapter 3 explains that the essence that causes debate about the scientific nature of traditional Chinese medicine is because people have no real understanding of the nature of science.Therefore,only the correct understanding of the source of science,the definition of science,scientific demarcation criteria,scientific characteristics,and a comprehensive and objective understanding of science can make scientific judgment as to whether traditional Chinese medicine is scientific.In Chapter 4,the author dialectically discusses the scientificalness of TCM from several demarcation standards of science,and points out the deficiency of defining the scientificalness of TCM by scientific demarcation standard.Finally,the author uses practice as the only criterion to test truth to measure the scientificalness of TCM.Finally,it is concluded that TCM is scientific.Finally,the future development of TCM is prospected from the methods of modernization development of TCM and the present situation of integration of TCM and western medicine.Correct and fair scientific understanding and concept is of great significance to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine.Chinese medicine workers should take a positive and confident attitude and be active and hardwording for the future development and work of traditional Chinese medicine to make modern medicine contend and bloom as a hundred flowers.
