Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of water sac and Propess used in cervical ripening for labor induction. Methods: 182 cases of primipara hospitalized and delivered in first affiliated hospital of Suzhou University during March 2015-April 2017 were retrospectively analyzed.86 cases used water sac to accelerate cervix maturation(water sac group),96 cases used Process(Propess group).General information, labor indication, prenatal cervical Bishop score, labour induction effection, maternal and infant outcomes of two groups of pregnant women were compared and analyzed. Results: Induction-to-labor duration and induction-to-delivery duration of water sac group was longer than Propess group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the total labor duration(labor-to-delivery)between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of over-efficiency or over-frequency of uterine contraction in the water sac group was significantly lower than that of the Propess group(P<0.05).cervical score before or after induction, total labor induction rate, transfer cesarean section rate, amniotic fluid III degree pollution, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal birth weight and neonatal asphyxia between the two groups have no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion: Water sac can achieve the same effect of Propess in promoting cervical ripening, which is more safe and worthy of popularization.
