Maturity Assessment During Puberty In Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis And Its Assess Value On Curve Progression

Objective To evaluate the occurrence of peak angle velocity(PAV)in a group of idiopathic scoliosis(IS)girls,and to identify the multiple dimensional indicators predicting the high risk occurrence of PAV.To explore the growth rate curve of spine and height of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis,and to provide reference for the for mulation and prognosis evaluation of clinical treatment strategy.Methods.36 IS girls with open triradiate cartilage,curve progression of 5° or more during follow-up and with at least 5 visits to our center were included.The average age at the first visit was 10.8 years.At each visit,the following data were collected and recorded:chronologic age,status of triradiate cartilage,Risser sign,height,Cobb angle of the major curves and digital skeletal age(DSA)scores.Furthermore,the height velocity(HV)and angle velocity(AV)of each visit were calculated.The stages of multiple maturity indicators by time of PAV were analyzed.Using R and LMSchartmaker to plot the growth velocity curves and percentile curves of the longitudinal follow-up data of 36 cases of female AIS patients collected from Spine Surgery in Nanjing Gulou Hospital.Results.The average age was 12.33± 1.26 years at PAV.The average height,Cobb angle and DSA score at PAV were 155.12±5.69cm,29.75±9.100,and 516.06±92.33,respectively.The average HV and AV at PAV were 5.81 ±4.51cm/year and 20.82±11.95°/year.Additionally,the Risser sign were 0 in 41.7%patients and 1-4 in 58.3%patients at PAV,respectively.The trend of height growth velocity curve and spine growth velocity curve is almost synchronous,they both reach the peak at about 10 years old,and then gradually decreased.After 15 years old,both of them remain at a low level.Conclusion.Multiple dimensional indicators together assess the occurrence of PAV in IS girls.Use the intuitive statistics to explain the characteristics of growth of AIS patients during pubertal.
