Objective: To compare the effect of different timing of removing drainage tube after total hip arthroplasty. Methods: Chose 130 patients with unilateral total hip arthroplasty for the first time from October 2015 to December 2017.After surgery according to the duration of indwelling drainage tube, divided the patients into two groups: In group A,after surgery pulled out drainage tube in 24h;In group B,65 cases’ drainage tubes were pulled out 48 h after surgery.Compared the postoperative drainage, postoperative hemoglobin level, blood transfusion rate, postoperative hip function recovering and wound healing between the two groups. Results: The postoperative wound drainage of group A was significantly lower than group B.However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in hemoglobin level in the first day and the third day after surgery(P >0.05).No statistical difference was found between the two groups about blood transfusion rate.Comparison of Harris scores in the two groups after surgery,In the two weeks after surgery, the Harris score of group A was lower than group B.However, there was no statistically significant difference in the Harris score between the two groups in the three months after the surgery(P > 0.05).Comparison of wound healing in groups A and B,the rate of wound healing in group A was(1.5%),and the rate of wound healing in group B was(12.3%).Group A was significantly lower than group B,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Removing drainage tube at different time has no effect on the postoperative hemoglobin level of patients. In the short term, although removing drainage tube in 24 h was lower than that in 48 h about the Harris score, there was no significant difference in hip function recovery between the two groups in the long time. The wound healing of group A was better than that of group B.In terms of reducing the risk of postoperative infection,it was suggested that the drainage tube should be removed in 24 h after surgery.
