0bjective: To discuss the follow-up analysis of surgical curative effect of using posterior pedicle screw system in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: From January,2011 to December,2014,16 AIS cases including seven boys and nine girls with age of 13.7±2.5 years, with the preoperative Cobb’s angle 58.9±14.2°were under the search.According to the King types, there were 4 type I,6 type II,4 type III,1 type IV and 1type V.All of these patients received the operation using posterior pedicle screw system. All the patients got extern fixation for 6 months, and were reviewed by X-ray for 3-month,1-year,2-year,3-year follow-up.Results: All the patients were followed 40.4 ± 3.1 months.Height increased the average of 5.2cm.The average angle was 58.9±14.2°before operation while 17.9±4.8°after operation and the correction rate is 69.6%.The mean major curve correction rate was 68.6%,67.4%,67.2%,67.1%and the loss correction rate of the main curve was 1%,2.2%,2.4%,2.5% at3-month,1-year,2-year and 3-year follow-up.SRS-22 domain scoresimproved significantly after operation. All patients had no spinal cord injures, loose nails, broken rod phenomena, pseudoarthritis and crankshaft phenomena. Conclusion: The 3-year follow-up of patients with AIS shows satisfactory effects of radiological changes, complications and life quality using posterior pedicle screw system.Considering the insufficient cases and the short follow-up duration,we will optimize the follow-up database to get more convincing conclusions.
