| Objective To investigate the knowledge and perception of hormone replacement therapy(HRT)as treatment,and to survey the prevalence of peri-menopausal syndrome among medical care personnel of Jiuquan city,aiming to provide evidence for further reproductive health care in middle-aged and elderly services.Method 260 women aged from 40 to 60 among Jiuquan medical personnel were included in this cross-sectional study.Through questionnaire survey,the data about awareness,current usage,demand concerning HRT and the prevalence of peri-menopausal syndrome was collected.Results The mean age of menopause was 46.8±4.1 years old in this population.16.92%of interviewees thought they knew about HRT.64.62%of them desired to know more information related to HRT.14.62%of them would like to recommend this regimen to patients suffering peri-menopausal syndrome.43.24%of them were against to HRT,who thought that menopause as aging process and it was unnecessary to interfere with hormone.11.54%of them had used HRT,but only 0.96%among them took HRT more than 9 months.The major cause(58.33%)of stopping HRT is worried about side effects.62.5%of them suffered from peri-menopausal syndromes,insomnia(65.4%),fatigue(63.46%),arthralgia(62.50%),irritability(54.81%)and headache(36.54%)are the most prevalent menopausal symptoms.Conclusions In this survey,the prevalence of awareness of HRT,usage of HRT,recommendation on HRT as effective regimen for peri-menopausal symptom are poor and limited.Insomnia,fatigue,arthralgia,irritability and headache are the most prevalent menopausal symptoms. |
