Veratrilla baillonii belongs to the family of Gentinaaceae.The roots is generally used as Chinese traditional medicine.Modern clinical studies have shown that V.baillonii can treatment bronchitis,alleviate the aconitine poisoning,detox the monkshood and aconite poisoning.Up to now,few of the phytochemical investigation on V.baillonii has been reported.In this paper,we investgated the chemical constitutions,the progress in chemical compositions and pharmacological research of plants from Gentianaceae.The iridoids compounds are summarized focus on “Chinese Materia Medica” contains 50 species of Gentianaceae family.From the the roots of V.baillonii,35 compounds were extracted and isolated by colum and HPLC chromatography.26 compounds were identifiedon the analysis of their NMR spectral data and the physicochemical characteristic.These compounds include 18 xanthones,6 iridoids and 2esters.A novel xanthone was identified as 1-Hydroxy-2,3,4-trimethoxy-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosylxanthone 1.Other 25 compounds were identified as Tetraswerosides A 2,Secamonoides B 3,1-Hydroxy-2,7-dimethoxy-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosylxanthone 4,2,3,4,7-Tetramethoxy-1-O-primeverosyloxy xanthone 5,Sweroside 6,Gentiopicroside 7,Swertiamarin 8,1-Hydroxy-3,4-dimeth oxy-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosylxanthone 9,Diisobutylphthalate 10,1,7-Dihydroxy-2,3,4-trimethoxyxanthone 11,1-Hydroxy-2,3,5-trimethoxyxanthone 12,1-Hydroxy-2,3,4,7-tetramethoxyxanthone 13,Tripteroside 14,VeratrilosideB 15,2,3,5-Trimethoxy-1-Oprimeverosyloxyxanthon 16,2,3,4,5-Tetramethoxyxanthone-1-O-gentiobioside 17,Dibutylfumarate 18,1,7-Dihydroxy-3,4-dimethoxyxanthone 19,1,3-Dihydroxy-4,7-dimethoxyxanthone 20,1,7-Dihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone 21,1-Hydroxy-2,3,4,5-tetramethoxyxanthone 22,1-Hydroxy-2,3,7-Trimethoxyxanthone 23,Deacetylcentap icrin 24,Amaronitidin 25,Amarogentin 26 respectively.24 compounds and ethanol extracts as the analysis sample from V.baillonii,the fingerprint chromatogrmas of the extracts were developed by HPLC method.Corresponded to the 24 compounds and understand the distribution of each compound in the V.baillonii.In this paper,DPPH,salicylic acid methodand pyrogallol oxidation method were used to establish analysis and evaluation system of antioxidant capacity for the ethanol and water extracts in vitro from V.baillonii.Using of these methods to evaluate the antioxidant capacity of the ethanol and water extracts.Provides a basis for the development of natural antioxidants to replace synthetic antioxidants.
