| Objective:To analysis the clinical features, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up result of neuroendocrine tumors in digestive system to provide an evidence of the diagnosis and treatment of patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms in digestive system. Methods:We Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 33 cases of neuroendocrine tumors in the digestive system treated in Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 1 2002 to June 302012.We analyzed the age,the primary site, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, therapy, clinical efficacy and follow-up results of patients with neuroendocrine tumors in the digestive system. Results:Of total 33 cases, there are 19 males and 14 females, males to females ratio was 1.3:1 in this series. The median age at diagnosis was 54 years. The esophagus is the most common site of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine(27.3%).The first clinical characteristics were abdominal pain(33.3%).The clinical characteristics were common. All of them were non-function tumors.Distant metastasis were found in 10 cases, mostly migrated to liver.19 patients received surgical treatment, and their median survival time was 67 months.7 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy and their median survival time was 68 months.12 cases did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy and their median survival time was 67 months.14 patients did not get surgery and their median survival time was 10 months.9 patients received palliative chemotherapy and their median survival time was 9 months.5 patients received best supportive care and their median survival time was 10 months. The results of univariate analysis indicated that the factors like distant metastasis, the expression levels of Ki-67 index, the expression of CgA and curative surgery were found be significantly associated with the prognosis of patients with neuroendocrine tumors in digestive system(P<0.05).But there were no significant differences in gender, age, the primary tumor site, the size of primary tumor and adjuvant chemotherapy(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.The esophagus is the most common site of neuroendocrine neoplasms in the digestive system in Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University.2.The first clinical characteristics were abdominal pain. The clinical manifestations of neuroendocrine tumors were non-specific and all of them were non-function tumor.3.The factors including distant metastasis, the expression levels of Ki-67 index, the expression of CgA and curative surgery were predictors of patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms in the digestive system.4.There were no relationship both gender, age, the primary tumor site, the size of primary tumor and adjuvant chemotherapy with prognosis of patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms in the digestive system. |
