Objective1.Clinical researchThis part of the study intends to conduct a retrospective study of patients with cardiac arrest to explore the effects of acupuncture therapy and other factors on the success rate of return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC),24-hour survival rate after ROSC.2.Basic researchThis part of the study proposes to explore the effect of electroacupuncture on Baihui of rat cardiac arrest model showing by interleukin-6,so as to research the effect of electroacupuncture on cardiac arrest and its possible mechanism.Methods1.Clinical researchThis part of the research was a retrospective study of cardiac arrest patients receive standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation or standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation combine acupuncture therapy.Cases originated from patients in the out-of-hospital emergency department, emergency observation area, emergency clinic, and EICU of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine between December 2013 and December 2017.The number of cases is 150.Patients information collected includes demographic data such as patient’s gender, age, patient number, cardiac arrest time;cause of cardiac arrest(cardiogenic,non-cardiogenic);basic diseases, that is,history of coronary heart disease, history of hypertension, history of cerebrovascular disease, and history of diabetes;initial heart rhythm(electric shock rhythm,non-shockable rhythm);artificial circulation(hands-only CPR,mechanical CPR),adrenaline dosage, acupuncture therapy or not,ROSC or not,ROSC maintain time. The collected information was analysed by t-test,chi-square test or Fisher exact test,to investigate the effect of acupuncture and other factors on the ROSC rate and 24-hour survival rate after ROSC.2.Basic researchIn this part of the study, randomized controlled animal study was used.30 rats were randomly divided into cardiopulmonary resuscitation group, cardiopulmonary resuscitation combined electroacupuncture therapy group(electroacupuncture group). Each group was subdivided into subgroups of 6h,24 h,and 72 h after ROSC.After establishing rats cardiac arrest model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation was conducted in the control group, and no intervention was performed after ROSC.In the electroacupuncture group, electroacupuncture therapy was conducted after ROSC.According to the subgroups, blood samples were collected through the inferior vena cava at 6h,24 h,and 72 h after ROSC,and centrifugation in a centrifuge for 20 min. Then separated serum, stored at-80 freezer. After completing collection of all animal specimens,interleukin-6 was detected according to the instructions. The t-test and the rank sum test were utilized to analyze the effect of electroacupuncture acupuncture on interleukin-6 levels.Results1.Clinical researchThe ROSC rate in the acupuncture group was greater than that in the non-acupuncture group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The acupuncture group had a higher proportion of ROSC duration more than 24 hours than the non-acupuncture group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The effect of cardiac arrest on ROSC was statistically significant(P=0.044),while other factors was not statistically significant(P>0.05).All the factors included in the study had no significant difference in the effect of ROSC maintenance time(P>0.05).2.Basic researchThe level of interleukin-6 in the electroacupuncture group was lower than that in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Overall,at 6 hours,24 hours, and 72 hours, the levels of interleukin 6 in the electroacupuncture group were lower than those in the control group. Moreover, the level of interleukin 6 in each subgroup of the electroacupuncture group appeared to gradually decrease with time.In contrast, the level of interleukin 6 in the control group appeared to decrease first and then increase with time. But,at different time points, there was no significant difference in the levels of interleukin 6 between the electroacupuncture group and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion1.Acupuncture treatment may have an impact on the prognosis of patients with cardiac arrest, but in this study was not statistically significant(P> 0.05).2.Among the causes of cardiac arrest in patients, the rate of ROSC in patients with cardiac causes was relatively higher than that in patients without cardiac causes. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Electroacupuncture treatment may reduce interleukin-6 levels after cardiopulmonary resuscitation in rats, and its effect may be extended due to prolonged time. But in this study was not statistically significant(P> 0.05).
