The pathogenesis of diabetes is not yet clear, but excessive intake of high-calorie diet-induced obesity is a high risk factor. In China, the history of using traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of diabetes has been very long, but it is mainly used as a hypoglycemic treatment in clinical practice.Drosophila has similarities with humans in terms of insulin metabolism. In order to explore the effects of Chinese herbal extracts on the metabolic abnormalities of Drosophila induced by high-sugar diet,we observed the growth rate and individual size of Drosophila, screened out the traditional Chinese medicines with relieving effects, and further analyzed the related indicators of growth and development.Firstly, the extracts from Lonicera japonica Thunb.,Chrysanthemun indicum L.,Lycium barbarum L.,Morus alba L.,Alisma orientalis(Samuel)Juz.,Ampelopsis japonica(Thunb.)Makino,Aractylodes macrocephala Koidz.,Cassia obtusifolia L.,Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb.Zucc.and Prunella vulgaris L.had an improving effect. After consulting the data, the Lonicera japonica Thunb.and Chrysanthemun indicum L.were eventually selected for detailed study.Secordly,Lonicera japonica Thunb.and Chrysanthemun indicum L.extracts could significantly extand the lifespan, restore the individual size, accelerate the growth rate, increase fecundity, and improve lipid droplets in fat bodies.Thirdly,Chrysanthemun indicum L.extracts could restore the individual size and fat body cell size after S6k deletion. However,Lonicera japonica Thunb.exacerbateed the decrease in individual S6k mutants, but restored cell size.Simultaneously,Lonicera japonica Thunb.and Chrysanthemun indicum L.restored the cell size and lipid droplet size of Aktl gene-deleted Drosophila.Lonicera japonica Thunb.,Chrysanthemun indicum L.may have potential hypoglycemic effects and have research significance.
