Brainstem gliomas(BSGs)are a histologically heterogeneous group of tumors defined primarily by their location.Most often,the term brainstem glioma is used to describe tumors that arise in the pons,also known as diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas(DIPGs),but it can also refer to tumors arising elsewhere in the brainstem.The difficulty lies in the difficulty of diagnosis and typing,uncertainty of surgical excision effect,poor effect of radiotherapy,and lack of effective strategy for chemotherapy.With the development of molecular genetics and molecular biology research,there are some new ideas and new approaches in the field of diagnosis and treatment of this disease.Meanwhile,some new advances have been made in targeted therapy?immune therapy and Chinese herbs healing.This article mainly introduces the current situation of diagnosis and treatment of brain stem gliomas at home and abroad,and looks forward to the latest trends of the diagnosis and treatment of brain stem gliomas in the future,hoping to provide guidances for the clinical treatment of brainstem gliomas in the future.
