| Introduction: Instrumentation of root canal with either of the file system(Pro Taper,Mtwo,Reciproc, and Wave One)results in extrusion of dentinal debris and irrigants through the apex that causes postoperative pain, flare ups and delayed wound healing. We conducted this meta-analysis to identify the in vitro studies that quantify the amount of extrusion of apical debris and compare nickel titanium file system having different motions(reciprocating single file versus full sequence rotary file system)for less apical extrusion of debris.Materials and Methods: The Pubmed and Cochrane databases were systematically searched using the relevant keywords to identify the relevant articles till December 2017.Endnote x8.0.1 was used to remove the duplication and irrelevant articles.Finally,13 studies were ended up after systemic search and were reviewed. From the selected studies, data were extracted with standard protocol.Revman version 5.3 was used for data analysis. The overall effect size was calculated from raw or unstandardized mean difference of weight of apically extruded debris. Results: Pro Taper produces significantly more(p<.01)apical extrusion of debris compared to Wave One.Mtwo produces significantly less(p<.01)amount of debris apically compared to Reciproc file system. Conclusions: Along with the kinematics, file design and taper are also responsible for the apical debris extrusion. |
