| PURPOSE:The purpose of this research was to study the clinical efficacy of Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy in patient with functional constipation(FC).The framework of this research was based on the traditional Chinese medicine theory, which combined with the method suggested by Professor Wang Fuchun.Randomized controlled trial was used in this research to compare Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy with regular Mu-point acupuncture therapy in order to prove that the clinical curative effect of Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy is more effective than regular Mu-point acupuncture therapy.METHODS:According to the screening criteria,60 patients with functional constipation were randomly divided into two treatment groups. One using Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy and the other were using resular Mu-point acupuncture therapy. Both groups were treated by acupuncture treatment, using neutral supplementation and draining method or even reinforcing-reducing method, when arrival of Qi or obtaining Qi,needle retain for 30 minutes. After the acupuncture treatment, one group was treated by medicated plaster applied to point and the other had no follow-up treatment. The treatment was performed once a day and last for five days as a treatment course. The full treatment contains five courses, two days between each course. An interview was conducted eight weeks after the full treatment had completed. The interview was based on clinical symptom score scale(CCS)and Bristol fecal trait scales.Patients’ weekly defecation frequency scores, defecation difficulty grades, and fecal trait scores were recorded.SPSS 23.0 statistical analyzer was used to analyze the data and compare both groups’ results before and after treatments. Results:Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 software.Measured data were expressed as mean standard deviation(x±S).Chi-square test was used for comparison between categorical data sets, rank sum test was used for comparison between grading data sets, and repeated data were used.Repeated analysis of variance analysis, with P<0.05 as the standard for significant differences,P>0.05 was not statistically significant.According to the results, there was no significant difference between the age and gender of patients with functional constipation;however, the results indicate a significant difference between Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy and regular Mu-point acupuncture therapy.(1)Comparison of CCS scores before treatment between two groups of patientsBy independent sample t-test,P=0.094>0.05.There was no significant difference in CCS scores between the two groups.(2)Comparison of CCS scores before and after treatment in two groups of patientsIntragroup comparison:Paired t test, acupuncture combined with stagnation of laxatives in the CCS score sroup before and after treatment.P=0.000<0.05,indicating that the CCS score after treatment was sisnificantly reduced;after treatment and within four weeks after treatment CCS score within the group P=0.000<0.05,indicating that the CCS score decreased after the end of treatment. In the simple acupuncture group before and after treatment in the CCS score group,P=0.000<0.05,indicating that the CCS score after treatment was significantly reduced;after treatment, compared with the CCS score group within four weeks after treatment,P=0.339>0.05,indicating that the CCS score was four weeks after the end of treatment. No significant decrease.Between-group comparisons:Independent sample t-test,P=0.013<0,05 after treatment, indicating that the difference in CCS scores between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant;follow-up period P=0.000<0.05,indicating two weeks after treatment between the two groups The differences in follow-up CCS scores were statistically significant.(3)Comparison of overall curative effect after treatment between two groups of patients After the 2 test,P=0.011<0.05,indicating that there was a statistically significant difference in the overall efficacy between the two groups of patients after treatment. Conclusion:The results suggested the following statements:(1)The number of patients’weekly defecations, fecal traits and difficulty in defecation has improved after both Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy and regular Mu-point acupuncture therapy;however,Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy has a better clinical curative effect.(2)The curative effect of Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy can be maintained after 4 weeks after treatment.Therefore.Lower-he-sea Point and Front-mu Point concerted application combines with Point Application therapy is suggested to use on FC patients. |
