Objective: To investigate of the clinical efficiency of endoscopic transsphenoidal reoperation for recurrent or residual pituitary adenoma.Method: the 69 patients with pituitary adenoma who hospitalized from January 2015 to June 2018 were retrospectively analyzed and compared respectively the operation time, postoperative length of stay, operation complication and tumor total resection rates of the both the firstly and reoperation groups. Results: there were no statistical differences of the clinical effective rates of surgery and operation time in the both groups(P>0.05),however,there were statistical differences of postoperative length of stay and operation complication rates including cerebrospinal fluid leakage intracerebral infectious and diabetes insipidus in the reoperation group(P<0.05).Conclusion: these results shows that the clinical efficiency of endoscopic transsph enoidal reoperation for recurrent or residual pituitary adenoma was reliable and th e operation complication rates and postoperative length of stay in the reoperation group were higher than the first operation, and there are a complexity and difficu lty during the removal of the tumor on protecting neighbor tissues of the anatomi cal structures in the reoperation stage.
