| Objective Through the clinical randomized controlled trial of PGLA thread-body acupoint catgut embedding intervention in obese type 2 diabetes mellitus with spleen deficiency and phlegm dampness, the effects of PGLA thread-body acupoint catgut embedding on weight loss, blood sugar reduction index, diabetic symptoms and quality of life of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus with spleen deficiency and phlegm dampness were observed.Method Ninety obese type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with spleen deficiency and phlegm dampness were selected from March 2018 to October 2018 in the outpatient and ward of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Rehabilitation Department and Endocrinology Department of Jiangsu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The patients were divided into three groups with 30 cases in each group:control group, acupuncture group and PGLA catgut embedding group. The control group was given routine treatment and nursing measures, and the discharged patients were intervened according to the general follow-up procedure of Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for 8 weeks. On the basis of the control group, the acupuncture group was given ordinary acupuncture treatment, and the main points were pulse-carrying,mid-Wan,Zusanli and Pishu.Points allocation:Daheng,Tianshu,Moisture,Fenglong,Yinlingquan, twice a week,30 minutes each time.Four weeks is a course of treatment, two courses of treatment are continuous. The catgut embedding group was given PGLA Catgut Embedding at acupoints on the basis of the control group. The catgut embedding group was treated once every 2 weeks. The catgut embedding group was treated for 4 weeks as a course of treatment, with two consecutive courses of treatment. Before and after the intervention, the patients were tested for body weight,BMI,waist circumference,waist-hip ratio, body fat rate, blood sugar(FPG,2hPG,glycosylated serum protein),blood lipid(triglyceride, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol)and other indicators. Before and after the intervention, the patients were assessed with the Diabetes Symptom Integral Scale and the Diabetes Quality of Life Scale.Result(1)Baseline data:There was no significant difference in age, sex, course of disease, obesity index, glycolipid metabolism index, diabetes symptom score and diabetes quality of life score between the three groups before intervention(P>0.05),which was comparable.(2)Weight loss indicators:There were significant differences in body weight,BMI,waist circumference,waist-hip ratio and body fat rate between the acupuncture group and the PGLA catgut embedding group before and after intervention(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in obesity indicators between the control group after 8 weeks of intervention and before intervention(P>0.05);there was no significant difference in obesity indicators among the three groups after intervention(P>0.05);The difference of body weight,BMI,waist circumference,waist-hip ratio and body fat rate between the acupuncture group and the catgut embedding group was lower than that of the control group before and after 8 weeks of intervention(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the acupuncture group and the catgut embedding group(P>0.05).(3)Hypoglycemic indicators:The blood sugar(FPG,2hPG,glycosylated serum protein),blood lipids(triglyceride, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol)of the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention were significantly different from those before intervention(P<0.01);there was no significant difference among the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention(P>0.05).(4)Diabetes symptom score:The difference of diabetes symptom score between the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention was statistically significant(P<0.05);the difference of diabetes symptom score between the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention was statistically significant(P<0.01);the catgut embedding group<the acupuncture group<the control group;the difference of diabetes symptom score between the three groups before and after 8 weeks of intervention was statistically significant(P<0.01);the catgut embedding group<the acupuncture group<There was significant difference in the control group(P<0.01).(5)Quality of life score of diabetes mellitus:The total score of quality of life and each dimension score of the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention were significantly different from those before intervention(P<0.01);there was no significant difference between the three groups after 8 weeks of intervention(P>0.05);the difference of quality of life score of diabetes mellitus before and after 8 weeks of intervention was compared, and there was significant difference between the catgut embedding group<the acupuncture group<the control group(P<0.01).ConclusionAcupuncture treatment and PGLA Catgut Embedding at acupoints can reduce body weight,BMI,waist circumference,waist-hip ratio, body fat rate and some indicators of glycolipid metabolism in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with spleen deficiency and phlegm dampness, improve the symptoms of diabetes mellitus and improve their quality of life.PGLA Catgut Embedding at acupoint is more effective than other two groups in improving diabetic symptoms and quality of life. |
