Drinking alcohol in the history of mankind has a long history,China’s “wine culture” is an ancient age,we also often find that there are many friends who like to drink. This unique“wine culture” has also contributed to the emergence of many alcoholics. The study found that alcohol-related diseases account for 4% of the total global burden of disease, and even in some developed countries the ratio can be as high as 16%.The death rate from alcoholism-related diseases accounts for 3.2% of total deaths, second only to cardiac-cerebral vascular diseases and tumors, and is the third most harmful disease.Alcohol-dependent patients(alcoholics)tend to combine many other psychological problems, and the social and family problems caused by alcohol addiction abound. In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s economy and wine-making industry, the number of drinkers and the number of patients who have reached the diagnostic standard of alcohol dependence is also increasing. The vast majority of alcohol-dependent patients receive body detoxification treatment, will be re-drinking,the rate of recovery of more than 80%.Drinking a large number of alcohol, alcohol dependence is a big chance, alcohol abuse is a big harm, cure difficult, thus,to solve the problem of alcohol dependence patients to drink is particularly urgent. This study selected a wine-dependent ward in a hospital in Dalian who meet the diagnostic criteria for alcohol dependence. The clinical alcohol withdrawal symptom rating scale(CIWA-Ar)score < 8 points, aged between 18 and 65 years, and 40 males who has no significant physical illnesses.Male subjects were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 20 persons in each group. The one-year psychological intervention was performed on the alcohol-dependent patients in the treatment group by integrating the 12-step interpersonal interaction group psychotherapy program of the Alcoholics Association(AA).The control group did not intervene. The efficacy of the intervention was assessed by comparing the two groups’ relapse rate, the level of dangerous drinking(AUDIT score),the time of alcohol withdrawal, the interval between relapses, and the number of normal and abnormal EEG every 3 months. The results show:(1)There was significant difference in the relapse rate between the treatment group and the control group(p=0.048,p<0.05),which indicated that the interpersonal interaction group psychotherapy with 12 steps of AA integration could effectively reduce the relapse rate of alcohol dependent patients;(2)The grade of dangerous drinking in the two groups(AUDIT score)were examined by test(p value 0.00,p<0.01),which showed that the level of dangerous drinking in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group after treatment.(3)Comparison of alcohol withdrawal time(or interval between relapsed drinks)in the two groups, using cox analysis(p value is 0.008,p <0.01),the difference was significant, which indicated that the alcohol-dependent patients in the treatment group had significantly longer time to stop drinking than the control group.(4)Cox analysis(p=0.000,p< 0.001)was performed for the two groups of non-sustained drinkers. The interval between re-drinking of non-sustained drinkers in the treatment group was significantly longer than that of the control group.(5)The comparison between the normal and abnormal number of EEG in the two groups every 3 months showed that the cumulative treatment time accumulated 9 months(p value was 0.04,p<0.05).The number of normal and abnormal EEG in the treatment group every 3months was significantly different from that before treatment(p value was 0.01,p<0.05),the difference was significant, indicating that the normal number of EEG in the treatment group began to increase. This psychotherapy program promotes the recovery of EEG in patients with alcohol dependence.(6)The comparison between the normal and abnormal number of EEG every 3 months for patients who had re-drink and those who stopped alcohol showed that the p value was0.039 at 12 months of treatment.the difference was significant. This indicates that the difference in the number of EEG abnormalities between the alcohol-discontinued patients and the re-drinking patients began to be statistically significant when the alcohol withdrawal time was accumulated for 12 months. To sum up,this study draws the following conclusions:First, the one-year interpersonal group psychotherapy program that integrates AA twelve steps to abstinence can promote the reduction of the rate of re-drinking of alcohol-dependent patients, the reduction of the level of dangerous drinking and the prolongation of alcohol withdrawal.Although it is not possible to reduce the recovery rate of patients who re-drink again,it can prolong the time of stop drinking.Second, the one-year interpersonal group psychotherapy program that integrates AA twelve steps to abstinence will have an effect on the recovery of patients’ EEG.After 9months of continuous intervention in the psychotherapy program, the EEG of the alcohol-dependent patient began to return to normal, otherwise it would take 12 months for the wine to begin to return to normal brain power.
