| Objective The study was aimed to investigate the present situation of nurses’ KAP(Knowledge-attitude/belief-practice)about nursing for preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology of 4 hospitals at Hubei province. To compare the differences between nurses’ knowledge,attitude/belief,practice of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology. To analyze the influencing factors of nurses’ KAP about preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology.According the influencing factors to make a feasibility proposals to enhance nurses’ KAP in neonatology about preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia. Methods In this study,a convenience sampling method was adopted to extract 211 on-the-job nurses from the hospitals’ neonatology in Hubei Province.Questionnaires were distributed to the subjects from April to May 2018 in the form of online questionnaires. The questionnaire included the general demographic data questionnaire of neonatology nurses and the survey questionnaire of nurses’ KAP about Nursing for preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology. After the questionnaire is collected, the Excel form is used to create the database, and the valid questionnaires are entered into it,and the double-checking method is adopted to ensure the quality of the entered data.Statistical analysis was performed on the entered data using SPSS 22.0 statistical software.General data were statistically described by means of mean number, standard deviation, and composition ratio;t-test,chi-square test,one-way ANOVA,multiple stepwise regression analysis,Pearson correlation analysis, etc.were used to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia in neonatology nurses.Results(1)This study issued and recovered 234 questionnaires with a recovery rate of 100%.After entering the data for two people, the invalid questionnaire was excluded, and the remaining valid questionnaires were 211,with an effective rate of 90.17%.(2)The KAP’ overall level of nursing to prevent Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology is medium.Knowledge mastery is at a medium level, and the average score of knowledge dimension was(8.27±1.99)points.The score of entry 13“tracheal cannula air pressure” was the lowest(0.17±0.37),and the correct rate was only 16.6%.The score of entry 8 “under the glottis” was second to last(0.45±0.50),and the correct rate was 45%.The attitude/belief level of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology is high, and the average score of the attitude/belief dimension was(46.16±4.4)points.Among them, the score of entry 6 “prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia should be completed by trained nurses” was lowest(4.42±0.83);the practice of neonatology nurses in preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia was at a high level, and the average score of practice dimension was(101.63±6.19)points,in which of entry 3 “wash hands when touching different parts of the same child(replacement gloves)”has the lowest score(3.61 ± 1.22).(3)After the normality test, the knowledge,attitude/belief and practice of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia were normally consistent with normal distribution. The t-test was used to compare the two groups.Comparison of two or more groups with homogeneity of variance using single factor analysis, the results shows there was a remarkable difference(P<0.05)in different age, marriage and childbirth, working years, working years of neonatology, professional titles, whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training, the hospital type factors, which affected the knowledge and attitude/belief of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology nurses(P<0.05),while the age, marriage and childbirth, working years, and neonatology working years, professional title, whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training had a statistically significant effect on the practice of neonatology nurses to prevent the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia(P<0.05).(4)The results of multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that there was a statistically significant difference in whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training and working years of neonatology, which affected knowledge and attitude/belief of preventing the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology nurses. There was a statistically significant difference in whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training and professional title to affected the practice of preventing the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology nurses.Conclusion(1)The neonatology nurses in this survey lacks of knowledge about preventing the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia, the attitude/belief and practice need to be further improved.(2)The working years of neonatology and whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training were the main influenced factor of knowledge and attitude/belief to prevent Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology nurses. The practice main influenced factors were whether participated of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia’ training and professional title.(3)Neonatology nurses should be strengthened to train and learn about the prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia, and to consolidate their nursing attitudes,so as to improve the behavioral compliance of the prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia care.(4)There is a significant correlation between the KAP of preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in neonatology nurses. |
