Objective:To investigate the relationship between thyroid function and hypoproteinemia in patients with intra-abdominal infections. Methods:The clinical data of 68 patients with abdominal infection who were admitted to the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Second Hospital of Jilin University from January 2017 to October 2018 were collected by retrospective statistical analysis. All patients were recorded APACHE II score within 24 hours, the levels of thyroid hormone and prealbumin were detected at the time of admission and one week after hospitalization. The diagnosis and treatment process for intra-abdominal infections is based on The Surgical Infection Society Revised Guidelines on the Management of Intra-Abdominal Infection in 2017.According to thyroid function,it was divided into NTIS group and normal thyroid function group. The data were measured by SPSS 19.0 software. For continuous variables, the mean and the standard error of the mean were calculated;the Student t test was used to compare variance between groups. For category variables, the chi-square test was used. The correlation test was performed by the Pearson test.P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:A total of 68 patients with intro-abdominal infections were enrolled, including 53 patients in the NTIS group and 15 patients in the normal thyroid function group. The incidence of NTIS in patients with abdominal infection was about 77%.The age and APACHEI II score in the NTIS group were higher than those in the normal thyroid function group and the albumin level was lower than that in the normal thyroid function group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of FT3 and prealbumin in patients with abdominal infection after treatment were higher than those at admission(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between FT4(P>0.05).The changes of FT3 levels were significantly correlated with the changes of albumin and prealbumin levels(P<0.05,r=0.033),but there was no significant correlation between serum albumin and prealbumin levels at FT4 levels(P>0.05).Conclusion:NTIS is ubiquitous in intro-abdominal infections.Thyroid hormone is positively correlated with albumin and prealbumin levelsAfter the clearance of the infection, although the patients’ thyroid hormone level has improved,it is still at a low level.
