Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum galectin-3 and the development of atrial fibrillation, and to investigate the preoperative serum galectin-3levels in predicting recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation value. Methods: The study population included 90 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and 61 patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and preserved left ventricular systolic function from the Department of Cardiology,Yijishan Hospital of Wannan Medical College from January 2017 to February 2018.Forty patients with sinus rhythm matched by sex and age were selected as the control group.130 patients eligible for radiofrequency ablation were selected from the atrial fibrillation group,Among them,80 cases of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and 50 cases of persistent atrial fibrillation,Under the premise of signing informed consent, radiofrequency ablation was performed.Patients undergoing Radiofrequency ablation were followed up for 1 year. The paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation patients were divided into non-recurrent and recurrent groups according to whether there was recurrence after Radiofrequency ablation,Basic clinical data of all subjects were collected,Serum Galectin-3 levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Serum galectin-3 levels in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, persistent atrial fibrillation and sinus rhythm were compared to analyze the relationship between serum galectin-3 and the occurrence and development of atrial fibrillation. The basic clinical data and serum Galectin-3 levels in the recurrent and non-recurrent groups after atrial fibrillation ablation were compared, and the different indicators were further analyzed by multi-factor analysis,to explore the independent influencing factors for predicting atrial fibrillation recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation. Results: Serum Galectin-3 in the persistent atrial fibrillation group was higher than the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group[5.44(2.51,8.45)ng/m L vs 3.86(2.87,4.61)ng/m L,P<0.05].Serum Galectin-3 in the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group was higher than the sinus group[3.86(2.87,4.61)vs 2.04(2.02,2.46)ng/m L,P<0.05].It is suggested that serum galectin-3 level is related to the occurrence and development of atrial fibrillation. The BMI [(26.06±3.63)kg/m2 vs(24.32±2.97)kg/m2,P=0.038)and serum galectin-3[5.22(3.11,8.75)ng/m L vs 3.31(1.83,5.46)ng/m L,P=0.008)in the recurrence group after ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were both higher than those in the nonrecurrence group. The LAD[(40.00 ± 3.12)mm vs(38.74 ± 4.88)mm,P=0.026],CRP[(8.57 ± 2.38)mg/L vs(6.76 ± 2.48)mg/L,P=0.012] and serum galectin-3[7.30(5.22,8.96)ng/m L vs 2.54(1.54,5.25)ng/m L,P<0.05] in the recurrent group after ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation were all higher than those in the non-recurrent group.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Preoperative serum galectin-3 level(OR=1.350,P=0.009)could independently predict the recurrence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after ablation,Preoperative Serum Galectin-3 levels(OR=1.493,P=0.007)also independently predicted recurrence of persistent atrial fibrillation after ablation.Preoperative Galectin-3>2.88ng/m L can predict the recurrence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after ablation, with the sensitivity of 0.895 and the specificity of 0.475.Preoperative Galectin-3>5.97ng/m L can predict recurrence after persistent atrial fibrillation ablation with a sensitivity of 0.696 and a specificity of0.741.Conclusion: Serum Galectin-3 levels may be associated with the development of atrial fibrillation.Serum Galectin-3 levels can independently predict recurrence after ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation;serum Galectin-3 >2.88 ng/m L in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and serum Galectin-3 >5.97 ng/m L in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation are predictive ablation Factors of postoperative recurrence.
