Background and objectives:Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world.Small cell lung cancer(SCLC)is one of several histological subtypes of lung cancer. It has clear biological behavior and clinical course, accounting for about 14% of lung cancer patients.Systemic inflammatory response promotes tumor cell growth, accelerates tumor cell metastasis, inhibits tumor immunity.Inflammation plays an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors.neutrophils and lymphocytes are important components of systemic inflammatory factors.Although small cell lung cancer patients are sensitive to initial radiotherapy and chemotherapy, they end up dying from relapse.Unfortunately, median survival rates are only 14 to20 months and 9 to 11 months for patients with limited-stage and extensive-stage disease, respectively. Therefore,we need a reasonable and effective prognostic evaluation system to provide accurate evidence for closely monitoring the prognosis of individual therapy in patients with small cell lung cancer.Through retrospective analysis of 80 patients with small cell lung cancer, the purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)in peripheral blood and prognosis in patients with small cell lung cancer(SCLC)before treatment. The prognostic markers of small cell lung cancer can provide clinical evidence for evaluating the therapeutic effect and monitoring the prognosis of patients with small cell lung cancer. Methods:the clinical data of 160 patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer hospitalized in Department of Oncology, second affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from June 2014 to July 2018 were collected continuously. These include sex, age, smoking history, blood routine examination results within one week before anti-tumor therapy, including neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, platelet absolute value,NLR,LMR,PLR.was calculated based on neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and platelets. The patients in the group were followed up by telephone andout-patient to find out the recurrence and overall survival time after treatment. Results:by univariate analysis stage, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte,NLR,interval were significantly correlated with PFS.By multivariate analysis, stage and NLR were indepe-ndent risk factors for PFS.Univariate analysis showed that gender, smoking history, lymphocyte,NLR,interval were significantly correlated with OS.By multivariate analysis,NLR and smoking history, were independent risk factors for OS.Conclusion:NLR in peripheral blood before treatment can be used as an important index for evaluating PFS,OS of limited-stage small cell lung cancer.
