Objective:To explore the role of teach back health education in health education after total knee arthroplasty(TKA).By discussing the educational effect of teach back method.To provide reference basis for formulating health education strategy for rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty.Methods:96 cases patients who undergoing knee arthroplasty were selected from April 2018 to November 2018 in The First Hospital of Jilin University.96 patients were divided into intervention group(n = 47)and control group(n = 49)by random sampling.The control group was given routine preoperative and postoperative health education guidance,The intervention group carried out teach back method to guide health education.The self-care ability scale(ESCA),health education satisfaction scale,knee function rating scale(HSS),drug compliance scale(MMAS-8)and postoperative complications were used to evaluate the patients in the two groups,Data of ESCA scale,HSS scale and were collected on the day of admission,MMAS-8 scale was collected on the first day after surgery.Patients were asked to fill in the health education satisfaction questionnaire on the day of discharge,and were recorded postoperative complications.Data of ESCA scale,HSS scale and mmas-8 scale were collected again 3 months after discharge.Statistical analysis was performed with IBM SPSS 17.0 software package,and P < 0.05 was set as statistically significant.Results:(1)Baseline information: There was no significant difference in general data between the intervention group and the control group(P> 0.05),and the two groups were comparable.(2)Self-care agency: Three months after discharge,Intra-group comparisons were performed,The scores of intervention group and control group were higher than those on admission,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05);comparison among groups,all items and total scores in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(3)Knee rehabilitation: Three months after discharge,Score of the intervention group and the control group in the option of flexion deformity of pain functional activity were higher than that on admission,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05),stability scores have no statistics significance(P>0.05);comparison among groups,the total HSS score of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(4)Drug therapy compliance: Three months after discharge,Intra-group comparisons were performed,drug therapy compliance of the intervention group was higher than that on the first day after surgery,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05),drug therapy compliance of the control group was compared with the first day after surgery,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);comparison among groups,the drug therapy compliance of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(5)Health education satisfaction: The satisfaction score of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(6)Incidence of complications: The incidence of complications in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group,The difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)Teach back-health education can effectively improve the self-care ability of patients after knee joint arthroplasty.(2)Teach back-health education can make patients regulate correct actions and master exercise tips,so as to promote the recovery of knee joint function after total knee arthroplasty.(3)Teach back-health education can improve the drug therapy compliance of patients total knee arthroplasty,the rehabilitation quality of the patients after total knee arthroplasty was improved.(4)Teach back-health education can improve patient satisfaction,it is conducive to improving nurse-patient relationship and patients’ medical experience.
