Objective : To investigate the impact of age and sex on the levels of serum pepsinogen I、pepsinogen II、PGI/PGII(PGR)and gastrin-17(G-17)of the patients who attacked by the common benign gastropathy. Methods: A total of 2884 patients admitted from Jan 1.2012 to Dec 31.2018 at the digestive system department and outpatient of Anqing hospital affiliated to Anhui Medical University are enrolled and their medical recods are collected. The patients are divided into three groups by disease :group of chronic non-atrophic gastritis(CNAG),group of gastric polyps and group of gastric ulcer and these three groups are divided into four subgroups by age and sex at the same time:the younger male subgroup(<60year),the younger female subgroup, the older male subgroup(≥60year)and the older female subgroup.Extract 40 samples from younger male subgroup and younger female subgroup at random to constitute the younger research group and extract 40 samples from older male subgroup and older female subgroup at random to constitute the older research group.Extract 40 samples from younger male subgroup and older male subgroup at random to constitute the research group of male and extract 40 samples from younger female subgroup and older female subgroup at random to constitute the research group of female.Serum levels of PG I,PG II,and G-17 are detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and then the ratio of PGI/PGII(PGR)is calculated. The SPSS software is used to exclude confounding factors and compare the data of the younger research group and the older research group, also of the research group of male and the research group of female.Result :In the group of CNAG and the group of gastric polyps,PG I,PG II and G-17 levels in older research group are significantly higher than those in younger research group, and PGR level is significantly lower than that in younger research group. In the group of gastric ulcer,PG I,PG II and G-17 levels in older research group are higher than those in younger research group, and PGR level is lower than that in younger research group. In the group of gastric ulcer, there are no significant difference between the younger research group and the older research group. In the group of CNAG,gastric polyps and gastric ulcer, there is no regularity between the data from comparing the level of PG I,PG II,PGR and G-17 in the research group of male and female. The difference has no statistical significance because of P>0.05.Conclusions : In the group of CNAG and the group of gastric polyps, age is the influencing factor of the four items of serum gastric function:the older patient has higher level of PG I,PG II,G-17 and lower level of PGR.In the group of gastric ulcer, age is not the influencing factor of the four items of serum gastric function. In the group of CNAG,gastric polyps and gastric ulcer, sex is not the influencing factor of the four items of serum gastric function. So when we read the result of the four items of serum gastric function of the patients who attected by CNAG and gastric polyps,we should pay attention to the patients who is too old or too young because of the false-positive or false-negative.
