Objectives:In this study, our objective was to assess the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation(TENS)as a pain relief treatment for postherpetic neuralgia. Methods:We conducted a one-year study and recruited 60 patients(age≥48 years),including 22 males and 38 females. They were randomly divided into G1 group(10 acupuncture treatment group)and G2 group(acupuncture treatment group).VAS assessment tools were used for 4 times, including SO,S4,S7 and S10.G1 组 10 males 20 females, average of age is 66.73±9.31 years old, average of VAS 7.40±1.23 before trement,G2 组 12 males 18 females, average of age is 64.70±6.84 years old, average of VAS 7.23±1.260The range of stimulus intensity was 7-24ma,and the patient’s support ability was directly dependent on VAS intensity. The higher it is,the more patients can handle it.Results:There was no significant difference in age and mean VAS between the two groups before treatment(p>0.05),suggesting comparability. After 10 times treatment, average of vas is 3.43±1.36 in G1,The difference was statistically significant compared with that before treatment(P<0.05);And average of vas is 3.37±1.20 in G2,The difference was statistically significant compared with that before treatment(P<0.05)。However,there was no statistically significant difference in VAS between the TENS group and the acupuncture group after treatment(p>0.05)。Conclusion:1.TENS has a good analgesic effect on patients with postherpetic neuralgia.2.Acupuncture and moxibustion also have good analgesic effect on patients with post-herpes neuralgia.3.There is no significant difference between TENS and acupuncture in analgesic treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.
