The Study On The Characteristics Of TCM Constitution In The Patients With Overweight/Obesity

Objective:To study the characteristics of TCM Constitution in The Patients with Overweight/Obesity,and study the relationships between constitutions and related indexes to provide more effective clinical basis for clinical prevention.Methods:A cross-sectional study was performed,we investigated the,180 cases of overweight/obesity people were selected as the research object who was in outpatient of endocrinology department and in health examination of GuangDong Provincial Hospital from March 2018 to December 2018.This TCM Constitution Survey was conducted using TCM Constitution Classification and Assessment Scale,and the indexes of height,weight,BMI,waist circumference,blood lipids were collected from these patients.To study the relationship between the TCM Constitution of overweight/obesity patients and those clinical indexes.Results:1.Among the 180 cases of overweight/obesity patients,the top five constitutions were phlegm-wetness type(35.6%),wet-heat type(22.8%),gentleness type(12.8%),yang-deficiency type(8%)and qi-deficiency type(7%).2.There were statistical differences in the gender of patients with overweight/obesity(P<0.05).Among the 180 patients,the number of female patients was 125,and the number of male patients was 55.The TCM constitutions of male patients were dominated by phlegm-wetness type,wet-heat type,gentleness type and qi-deficiency type,while the TCM constitutions of female patients were dominated by phlegm-wetness type,wet-heat type,gentleness type and yang-deficiency type.3.There were statistical differences in the age of patients with overweight/obesity(P<0.05).In this study,the majority of patients with phlegm-wetness type aged 30-49 years accounted for 74.9%.The majority of patients with wet-heat type aged 20-39 years accounted for 80.50%.Patients with yang-deficiency type was mostly between 40-49 years old,accounting for 73.3%,and patients with gentleness type was mostly between 30-39 years old,accounting for 56.5%.The majority of patients with qi-deficiency type aged 30-39 years accounted for 46.20%.4.In the binary Logistic regression analysis of various types of body constitutions and related factors,it was suggested that LDL was negatively correlated with gentleness type(P=0.040,OR=0.105,95%ci:0.012-0.902),indicating that the higher the LDL was,the lower the probability that the patient with gentleness type was.Gender(0=male,1 = female)was positively correlated with yang-deficiency type,indicating that the probability of female with yang-deficiency type was higher than male(P=0.044,OR=11.343,95%CI:1.069-120.378).Gender(0=male,1=female)was negatively correlated with qi-deficiency type,showing that the probability of male with qi-deficiency type was higher(P=0.049,OR=0.180,95%ci:0.033-0.996).Conclusion:The top five constitutions of overweight/obesity patients were phlegm-wetness type,wet-heat type,gentleness type,yang-deficiency type and qi-deficiency type.The gender and age of overweight/obesity patients affect the distribution of TCM constitutions.The TCM constitutions of male patients were dominated by phlegm-wetness type,wet-heat type,gentleness type and qi-deficiency type,while the TCM constitutions of female patients were dominated by phlegm-wetness type,wet-heat type,gentleness type and yang-deficiency type.There were different correlation between gender and yang-deficiency type and qi-deficiency type.The probability was higher in female with yang-deficiency type in females,and higher in male with qi-deficiency type.There was some correlation between LDL and gentleness type.The higher the LDL was,the lower the probability of gentleness type was.
