One of the common complications of patients with cirrhosis is upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage.Because of coagulation disorders, thrombocytopenia and platelet dysfunction, hemostasis is difficult in patients with cirrhosis, causing hemorrhagic shock or even death.Blood transfusion is an important method for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage in cirrhosis.Transfusing fresh frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate and platelet to correct blood clotting function and promote hemostasis, and transfusing erythrocyte suspension to improve oxygen carrying capacity.Reasonable blood transfusion therapy can improve the therapeutic effect, and decrease the incidence of complications and mortality. At present, there are still controversies about the threshold and dose of blood transfusion in the guidelines at home and abroad. In order to formulate scientific guidelines for blood transfusion, further research and discussion are needed.
