Objective:This study investigated the correlation between cognitive function and sleep status in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS),as well as the effects of continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)on the two. Methods:Selection on June 1,2017 to August 1,2018 in the second hospital of shanxi medical university sleep apnea center line polysomnography(polysomnography,PSG)after the diagnosis of OSAHS and after into and exclusion standard screening 42 cases of hospitalized patients with accord with mild cognitive impairment, were randomized into experimental group(22 cases with CPAP conservative care patients)and control group(20 patients with simple conservative care);Patients in both groups were followed up for 2 months, and cognitive function and daytime sleepiness were assessed before and after the follow-up.At the end of the follow-up,PSG was reviewed in the experimental group. To explore the correlation between cognitive function and sleep status before treatment and to compare the changes of sleep status and cognitive function before and after follow-up between the experimental group and the control group. Results:Two cases were lost to follow-up in the experimental group, and one case was lost in the control group.Data from a total of 39 cases were included in the analyses.Asignificant positive correlation was found for the results of the Clock Drawing Test 30(CDT30)and minimum oxygen saturation(LSaO2 [%])(r = 0.35,P = 0.03),as well as between the results of the Stroop Color Word Test C Time Consumption(SCWT-C Time Consumption)and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS)(r = 0.35,P = 0.03).After treatment, the values for the Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE),the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA),the CDT30,the Digit Span Test backward(DST backward),the SCWT-C Correct Number, the Stroop Interference Effects Correct Number(SIE Correct Number),and the LSaO2(%)of the experimental group were significantly increased, and the values for the SCWT-C Time Consumption, the ESS,and the Apnea Hypopnea Index(AHI)were significantly decreased. After follow-up,the values for the MoCA and the DST backward were significantly increased in the experimental group, and ESS were significantly reduced. Conclusion:The executive function of OSAHS patients is positively correlated with oxygen saturation and negatively correlated with daytime sleepiness.Short-term CPAP treatment of 2 months can improve sleepiness and the global cognitive, attention, and executive functions in OSAHS patients.
