Objetive: The investigation of the Bawei shihuihua wan on Quality Standards were used to provide the scientific basis for the improvement of existing quality standard.This new quality standard was more comprehensive and effective than the existing.Furthermore,in order to provide the data base for the application of Bawei shihuihua wan,the diuresis effect of which were evaluated in this study.Method: Qualitative study of the Bawei shihuihua wan included the Microscopic identification and TLC.The calcium carbonate in calciosinti were determined by the complexometric titration.The content of ellagic acid in Semen granati were detected by HPLC.The samples were analyzed on a Agilent C18 column(4.6mm×250mm,5?m)using acetonitrile-0.2%aqueous phosphoric acid solution(15:85,V/V)as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0ml/min.The detection wavelength was set at 254 nm and the column temperature at 30?.The dose-dependent effect of the Bawei shihuihua wan on diuresis effects was measured detail.Results: the characterization of Bawei shihuihua wan,including starch grains,stone cells,non-glandular hairs,pollen grains,fiber and vessels,were confirmed by morphological observation under Microscopic.The six species medicinal materials in the Bawei shihuihua wan could be recognized via TLC,and most of them,such as Caryophylli flos,Cinnamomum cassia,Piper longum,Meconopsis and Carthami flos,were exhibited the positive in TLC.The concentration of calcium carbonate in calciosinti were detected,but some other factor affected the accuracy of experimental results.The results of the ellagic acid content determination showed the good linear relationship with their peak areas in the range of 0.0068~0.1368 ?g(R2 = 0.9998)and the recovery between 98.5%~100.6%.By the pharmacodynamic evaluation of Bawei shihuihua wan in vivo,comparing to the control and low dose group,the medium and high doses have the significant obvious diuresis effect.Conclusion: the establishment of qualitative and quantitive method with the properties,including convenient and reliable,a steady and accurrated result,and high sensitivity,could not only be used for the quality control,but also provided the scientific basis for the improvement of the existing quality standard.Moreover,the diuresis effects of Bawei shihuihua wan was identified in this paper.
