Objective:To evaluate the function of peripheral muscles of knee in patients with meniscus injury by surface electromyography,and to observe the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with functional exercise in the rehabilitation of meniscus injury.Methods:54 patients with meniscus injury as research subjects were randomly divided into two groups by admission time in our hospital from October 2017 to December 2018:the experimental group and the control group.Each group included 27 patients.The patients in the experimental group received traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with functional exercise therapy.The patients in the control group received water fumigation combined with functional exercise therapy.Before and after the treatment,the function of the knee was evaluated by the Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS)knee score,the effect score for meniscus injury after treatment from Japanese Orthopaedics Association(JOA)and the surface electromyography of peripheral muscles of knee.The clinical efficacy was evaluated by analyzing and comparing the datas.Results:1.During the maximal isometric voluntary contraction at knee flexion angle of 70,the root mean square value(RMS)of vastus medialis(VM),vastus lateralis(VL),rectus femoris(RF)and biceps femoris(BF)was lower than unaffected knee,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.During squatting down and standing up test,the coactivity ratio of hamstrings in affected knee was higher than unaffected knee,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.After treatment,the total JOA score and the total HSS score of both experimental group and control group were improved,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total JOA score and the score of the pain after a long walk,the pain and movement when walking up and down stairs,the pain when forced knee extension and McBurney’s sign of the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total HSS score and the score of the pain and functional indexes of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.After treatment,the RMS of VM,RF,VL and RF in the experimental group and the control group was increased,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).There was no significant change in the coactivity ratio of hamstrings between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.sEMG can be used to quantitatively evaluate the muscle function around knee of patients with meniscus injury in different motion states.2.In patients with meniscus injury,the muscle strength of the VM,RF,VL and RF decreased and the stability of the affected limb was abnormal.3.Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with functional exercise can effectively improve the knee joint function of patients with meniscus injury.It also increase the muscle strength of VM,RF,VL and RF. |
