Objective:This study investigated the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)and white matter hyperintensities(WMHs).Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 192 patients admitted to the First Hospital of Lanzhou University from January 2015 to January 2019.All the patients underwent magnetic resonance imaing(MRI)and polosomnogram(PSG)examinations.Patients were divided into obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome group(OSAHS)and non-obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome group(non-OSAHS)according to PSG examination results. All the patients were measured homocysteine, uric acid, glycosylated hemoglobin and blood lipids, and recorded gender, age, height, weight,BMI,smoking, diabetes, hypertension and other general informations. Results: 1.There were statistically significant differences between the OSAHS group and the non-OSAHS group in gender,BMI,diabetes, hypertension and glycosylated hemoglobin;and no statistically significant differences in age, smoking, uric acid and blood lipid.2.The incidence of DWMH in OSAHS group was significantly higher than non-OSAHS group;the incidence of PVH was no significant difference between OSAHS group and non-OSAHS group.3.The severity of WMHs in OSAHS group was higher than non-OSAHS group.4.Age,sex,hypertension,homocysteine were the risk factors for the severity of WMHs in OSAHS group.5.There was a positive and weak correlation between the severity of WMHs and the severity of OSAHS in OSAHS group.6.There were significant differences in the severity of WMHs and the severity of OSAHS between the unplaque group and the stable plaque group in the OSAHS group. Conclusion: The incidence and severity of WMHs in OSAHS patients are higher than patients without OSAHS,and the severity of WMHs increases with the severityof OSAHS.
