| As a famous medicinal plant in China,Lycium barbarum has been widely used in China for years.With the development of society and the changing work and life rhythm,people’s physical fitness is getting worse and worse,and diseases caused by sub-health and low immunity are increasing.People pay more and more attention to health care,which indirectly leads to people’s demand for health care products and health food.Among them,Lycium barbarum as a traditional Chinese medicine in the health care products,the demand has increased significantly.To carry out our research will provide scientific basis for promoting the standardized use of Lycium barbarum,the development of Lycium barbarum industry and solving people’s practical problems.There are normal oxidative and reductive reactions in the body,which maintain the normal physiological and biochemical balance of the body.But when this balance is broken,it will cause serious malignant reaction.One of them is that when the oxidation degree is much higher than the normal reduction ability of the body,excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)components will occur,which will cause tissue damage.This process is called Oxidative Stress.It has been found that many existing diseases are closely related to oxidative stress,including immunodeficiency disorders,diabetes,pain and so on.It causes great damage to people’s quality of life.Therefore,the research of therapeutic methods or drugs for oxidative stress will be very necessary to improve people’s health,happiness and quality of life,and promote the rise of life expectancy,and has far-reaching academic and social significance.At present,there are many studies on the activity of Lycium barbarum.and many kinds of active effects have been found.However,the current research on Lycium barbarum.focuses on the activity itself,and the mechanism of action is not clear,which needs further detailed and systematic study.This study focused on oxidative stress.Different mouse models were used to study the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of Lycium barbarum.through oxidative stress regulation.The mechanism of Lycium barbarum.was confirmed.To provide scientific basis for promoting industrialization and large-scale development of Lycium barbarum.During exercise,muscle metabolism produces a large amount of reactive oxygen species(ROS).When ROS can not be removed in time or can not be removed,oxidative stress will occur.In the classical anti-fatigue mice model,Lycium barbarum.water extract(LBWE)was administered intragastrically.After 14 days of treatment,it was found that LBWE significantly increased the exercise time and antioxidant capacity(SOD increased,MDA decreased)of mice in the weight-bearing swimming experiment.It is proved that LBWE can improve the body’s anti-oxidative ability and reduce oxidative damage by regulating oxidative stress,thus enhancing the exercise ability of mice and achieving anti-fatigue activity.Previous studies have shown that Lycium barbarum has anti-aging,anti-fatigue,anti-fatty liver and immune effects.The present study,using alloxan-induced diabetic mouse model,the hypoglycemic activity of Lycium Barbarum water extract(LBWE)is investigated.Metformin hydrochloride solution(Met)was served as positive drug.Compared to model mouse of diabetes,28-day LBWE treatment significantly reduced the blood glucose level.Moreover,the alloxan-induced weight loss,and abnormal symptoms of food and water intake were improved strongly by LBWE.The hypoglycemic activity of LBWE was further confirmed by the inhibition of serum glucose level in the glucose tolerance test.Moreover,the low level of MDA,and high activities of SOD and GSH-Px were noted in LBEW-treated mice compared to model group suggesting that the LBWE can be used to prevent the oxidative stress associated with diabetes complications.The present study demonstrates that LBWE has a hypoglycemic effect by preventing oxidative damage. |
