| ObjectiveTo investigate the diagnostic accuracy of sonography and mammography as well as their combination for detecting breast invasive ductal carcinoma by using BI-RADS 5th edition and also explore the diagnostic value of sonography and mammography on breast invasive ductal carcinoma in different age groups of patients.MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed 171 cases of breast invasive ductal carcinoma. The tumors were evaluated both mammographically and sonographically and their mammographic and sonographic images were interpreted using BI-RADS 5th edition. The diagnostic accuracy of sonography and mammography as well as their combination were compared for detecting breast invasive ductal carcinoma.Data were divided into two cohorts,patients≤50 years and patients>50 years. The diagnostic accuracy of sonography and mammography were compared on breast invasive ductal carcinoma in two groups.ResultsThe diagnostic accuracy of sonography, mammography and the combination were 86.5%,78.9%,95.3% respectively. The difference of sonography, mammography for detecting breast invasive ductal carcinoma is statistically significant(P<0.05).A combination of sonography and mammography exhibited higher diagnostic accuracy compared with that of sonography or mammography alone(P<0.05).The diagnostic accuracy of sonography for the patients≤50 years was significantly higher than that of mammography(P<0.05).The diagnostic accuracy of mammography for the patients>50 years was significantly higher than that of sonography(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe combination of sonography and mammography greatly improve the diagnostic accuracy of breast invasive ductal carcinoma by using BI-RADS.The diagnostic accuracy of sonography for the patients≤50 years was significantly better than that of mammography. The diagnostic accuracy of mammography for the patients>50 years was significantly better than that of sonography. |
