ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to understand the current situation of occupational perception and employment intention of“5+3”general practice resident trainees in a residential training base in Henan province by questionnaire,so as to analyze the problems existed in the process.Through the method of qualitative interview to understand the relevant factors affecting the occupational perception of general practice resident trainees, and put forward suggestions and improvement measures to provide reference basis for improving the training process of general practice residents in Henan province.MethodsThe“5+3”general practice resident trainees were studied by the combination of literature research, questionnaire and qualitative interview.First of all,the concept of occupational perception of general practitioners and the setting of questionnaire were summarized to provide reference through literature research; The subjects were selected from“5+3”residents in a residential training base in Henan Province, and then the results of the questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis, such as the constituent ratio of the counting data; Finally, ten general practice resident trainees were randomly divided into two groups for interviews in the qualitative interview,in order to understand the possible factors affecting occupational perception of general practitioners, and a descriptive statistical analysis was made after the interview datas had been sorted out.Results74.7%of the general practice trainees in the training base did not receive systematic general practice education before participating in the standardized general practice training.During the training of general practitioners, the trainees had a vague understanding of the development situation of general practice, lack of the knowledge-and technology of general practitioners, and the service perception of general practitioners needs to be improved, the occupational self-perception and occupational development attitude towards general practitioners need to be optimized, and the willingness to work as general practitioners needs to be developed to a rational point of view.General practice development situation, public opinions,doctor-patient relationships, general practice theory and practice education, base mentors or teachers, personal occupational needs and occupational values affect the occupational perception of general practitioners.ConclusionsThe "5+3" general practice resident trainees in this base in Henan Province are lack of occupational perception of general practitioners,so they need to further improve their occupational perception level during the residential training period.General practice resident trainees have an imbalance between personal occupational demand and social occupational demand, and their employment intention towards general practitioner needs to be transferred to the rational stage. It is suggested that the "three-pronged approach" should be adopted to improve the general practice resident trainees’ perception of the general practitioner occuption from the social level, the standardized training base of residents and the students themselves, and so as to construct the overall occupational perceptive education.
