Objective: For this study, the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in gastric cancer and non-cancerous gastric mucosal tissues was observed by immunohistochemical method(SP method).Statistical methods were used to analyze the correlation between the two and the relationship between the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 and clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer. The role of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 expression in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer and their clinical value were also discussed. Methods: 128 gastric cancer tissue specimens,41 normal gastric tissue specimens and 30 gastric intraepithelial neoplasia specimens were collected from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanhua University and the Department of Pathology of Chenzhou First People’s Hospital from 2013 to 2018.The expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in the above-mentioned specimens was detected by immunohistochemistry(SP method). The relationship between the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in gastric cancer tissues(all cases were diagnosed as primary gastric cancer),normal gastric tissues and intraepithelial neoplasia, and the age, sex, size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, margin invasion, degree of differentiation, the location of tumors and the pathological types of tumors were analyzed.Results:(1)The high expression rates of E-cadherin and B4 GALT 3 were 21.8%(28/128),41.4%(53/128)respectively in 128 gastric cancer tissues,61%(25/41)and 19.5%(8/41)in 41 normal gastric tissues and 13.3%(4/30)and 23.3%(7/30)in 30 cases of intraepithelial neoplasia.Statistical analysis showed that:(2)There were significant statistical differences in the high expression of E-cadherin in gastric cancer and normal gastric tissues(P < 0.05),and in normal gastric tissues and intraepithelial neoplasia(P < 0.05),but there was no significant difference in the high expression of E-cadherin in intraepithelial neoplasia and gastric cancer(P > 0.05).(3)The high expression of B4GALT3 in gastric cancer and normal gastric tissues was significantly different(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the high expression of B4GALT3 in normal gastric tissues and intraepithelial neoplasia(P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in the high expression of B4GALT3 in endothelial neoplasia and gastric cancer(P > 0.05).The relationship between the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 and clinicopathological features was as follows:(1)The expression of E-cadherin was correlated with the depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and differentiation of gastric cancer(P < 0.05).The expression of E-cadherin was not correlated with sex, age, size, margin invasion, location and pathological type of gastric cancer(P > 0.05).(2)The high expression of B4GALT3 was related to lymph node metastasis and tumor differentiation in patients with gastric cancer(P < 0.05).The high expression of B4GALT3 was not related to sex, age, tumor size, invasion depth, margin invasion, tumor location and pathological type of gastric cancer(P > 0.05).Spearman grade correlation analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the expression of r-0.092,P-0.300,E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in gastric cancer tissues(P > 0.05),that is,there was no correlation between the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in gastric cancer tissues. Conclusion: The expression of E-cadherin is related to the depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and differentiation of gastric cancer patients;the expression of B4GALT3 is related to the degree of lymph node metastasis and differentiation of gastric cancer patients;the expression of E-cadherin and B4GALT3 in gastric cancer tissues has no correlation.
