Objective:Compare the clinical efficacy of the Biofunctional Prosthodontic System(BPS)for adsorbing denture and the conventional Complete Denture(CD),retention force,masticatory efficiency,first fitting and grinding time,and satisfaction evaluation,thus providing an objective reference for the selection of clinical Complete denture prosthesis.Methods:A total of 10 edentulous patients who visited the Department of Stomatology,Yan’an Hospital affiliated to Kunming Medical University from June to December 2019 were randomly selected to be repaired by the same doctor and the same technician using two methods:the adsorption denture and the conventional complete denture made by the same patient using BPS system.Patients were randomized to wear one pair of dentures in a single blind method.After grinding,the denture was evaluated after wearing for half a month,and then the other pair of dentures was replaced,using the same method as before.The clinical efficacy of complete denture made by two methods was compared.Objective efficacy indexes were as follows:retention force measurement,grinding time measurement,masticatory efficiency measurement.Subjective curative effect observation index:using satisfaction questionnaire,including(complete denture aesthetic degree,language expression,retention stability,chewing function,comfort).SPSS24.0 software package was used for analysis,measurement data were expressed as(mean±standard deviation),and paired T-test was performed for data subject to normality.Wilcoxon symbolic rank sum test for data that do not conform to normality was performed.Results:1.Determination of 72-hour grinding time for first wear and first wear:The grinding time of adsorption denture produced by BPS system was significantly shorter than that of conventional complete denture,with a statistically significant difference(p=0.001).2.Measurement of retention force and chewing efficiency after half a month,satisfaction evaluation:(1)Determination of retention force:The retention force of adsorptive maxillary denture made by BPS system was higher than that of conventional complete denture,and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).The mean mandibular retention of adsorptive denture prepared by BPS system was significantly higher than that of conventional complete denture,and the difference was statistically significant(p=0.00).(2)Measurement of masticatory efficiency:The masticatory efficiency of BPS system was significantly higher than that of conventional complete denture,with a statistically significant difference(p=0.001).(3)Satisfaction survey:The aesthetic score of adsorbed denture produced by BPS system was higher than that of the conventional group,with statistically significant difference(p<0.05).The retention stability score of complete denture in BPS group was significantly higher than that in the conventional group,and the difference was statistically significant(p=0.001).The masticatory function score of complete denture in BPS group was significantly higher than that in the conventional group,and the difference was statistically significant(p=0.00).However,the differences in language expression and comfort between the two groups were not statistically significant(p>0.05).Conclusions:1.The maxillary retention force of BPS system is larger than that of conventional complete denture,and the mandibular retention force is significantly larger than that of conventional complete denture;2.The adsorption denture made by BPS system was significantly more efficient than the conventional complete denture.3.Compared with the conventional complete denture,the adsorption denture made by BPS system has a significantly shorter clinical grinding time;4.Compared with conventional complete denture repair,the adsorptive denture made by BPS system can achieve higher clinical satisfaction in aspects of denture aesthetics,retention stability,chewing function,etc.,while there is no significant difference in language expression and comfort score.
