Research On Listening And Speech Training APP Design For The Hearing Impaired Based On User Experience

The hearing-impaired people get a lot of troubles in their daily life because of the hearing loss and it’s not easy for them to integrate into mainstream society.In fact,hearing-impaired people have great enthusiasm and strong demand for listening and speech rehabilitation,but the actual situation(Such as shortage of speech therapist,high cost of professional treatment,lack of listening and speech rehabilitation apps,etc.)can’t meet their needs.In the study,the listening and speech rehabilitation training APP for the hearing impaired was taken as the research object.At first,the theoretical research took the physiological and cognitive characteristics of the hearing impaired as the base,combined with language rehabilitation,computer-aided listening and speech rehabilitation,and user experience design to clarify the characteristics of the target user and the principles of listening and speech rehabilitation.Then,through user surveys such as questionnaires,user interviews,and expert interviews,user pain points were further clarified and typical user portraits are extracted.Next,through exploration,experimentation,description,association,selection,specification,verification and improvement stages,usability heuristics for the hearing-impaired’s rehabilitation training app was established as the guiding design principles.Through Combining the usability heuristics for the hearing-impaired’s rehabilitation training APPs and the user experience design model,the design levels and corresponding design strategies of the listening and speech rehabilitation training APPs for the hearing impaired were obtained: the strategy layer,the content layer,the interaction layer,the participation layer,and the performance layer.Based on the design levels and strategies of the listening and speech rehabilitation training APPs for the hearing-impaired,case studies were conducted in order to make sure the application status and development direction.Finally,the listening and speech rehabilitation training app for hearing-impaired people was designed: based on user research and design strategy research,the product positioning,function determination,information architecture,and low-fidelity prototype design were completed and then expert usability evaluation was conducted.According to evaluation results,the iteration was finished and then user design evaluation was conducted to further verify the usablity of the design.This paper provides a theoretical basis for computer-assisted listening and speech rehabilitation training APPs for hearing-impaired people and the design practice "Voibook listening and speaking".
