Correlation Analysis Of Cystatin C Levels And Enlarged Perivascular Space In The Elderly

Objective: To explore the correlation between cystatin C level and Enlarged Perivascular Spaces in elderly patients.Methods: 154 elderly patients with EPVS in the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from July 2018 to June 2019 were selected as EPVS group of this study.Meanwhile,140 patients with normal results of cerebral MRI and no positive signs in neurological examination were selected as the control group.Record two groups of gender,age,hypertension,diabetes,blood lipid level,serum creatinine,blood urea,blood uric acid,homocysteine,cystatin C and other related information,through the single factor analysis of variance and multiple factors Logistic regression analysis to explore the correlation between EPVS and cystatin C,uric acid,homocysteine and other risk factors.Result: A total of 294 elderly patients were enrolled in this study,including 154 cases in the EPVS group and 140 cases in the control group.Univariate analysis results: Hypertension(P=0.024),age(P=0.001),cystatin C level(P=0.003),serum uric acid level(P=0.006),homocysteine(P=0.000)were compared between the two groups,and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).And diabetes(P = 0.973),gender(P = 0.208),triglyceride(P = 0.674),total cholesterol level(P = 0.187),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(P = 0.914),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(P = 0.26),urea(P = 0.103),creatinine(P = 0.103)in comparison between the two groups,there were no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis results: Hypertension(OR=2.599,95%CI 1.168-5.785,P=0.019),age(OR=1.105,95%CI 1.010-1.208,P=0.029),cystatin C level(OR=20.431,95%CI 1.152-362.409,P=0.04),uric acid(OR=1.005,95%CI 1.000-1.010,P=0.046),homocysteine(OR=1.373,95%CI 1.157-1.629,P=0.000),and the difference between the EPVS group and the control group was still statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Cystatin C is an independent risk factor for EPVS.Uric acid,homocysteine,hypertension and age are independent risk factors for EPVS.
