Objective: To investigate and understand job tasks of newly registered nurses in hospitals of various levels in three provinces in the northeast of China. To describe the task characteristics of nurses and assign reasonable job tasks to them.At the same time,it provides references for putting forward the standards of knowledge, skills and abilities of newly registered nurses, and then provides a theoretical basis for the qualification examination of licensed nurses and the selection, evaluation and training of newly registered nurses. Methods: Multi-stage sampling method was adopted to select proper samples in 3geographical zones and 6 types of medical institutions. We used the "Questionnaire of Job Tasks of Nurses with Different Professional Titles" to investigate 292 nurses in these selected medical institutions.SPSS 25.0 software was used for data analysis.Firstly, descriptive statistical analysis was conducted on general data of newly registered nurses;secondly, the frequency and importance of the tasks of newly registered nurses were evaluated by statistical description and correlation analysis;finally, single factor analysis and univariate analysis were used to compare the working characteristics of nurses in different regions, medical institutions and departments. Results: 1.The score of newly registered nurses' job tasks in three provinces in the northeast of China: The mean range of the item "nurses' task execution frequency" was 4.13?2.68,and the mean range of importance evaluation was 3.76?3.46,and the mean of comprehensive evaluation ranges from 15.75 to 9.77.The average execution frequency of 120 item work tasks ranged from 4.76 to 1.32,and the mean range of importance evaluation ranged from 3.93 to 3.21.2.A significant positive correlation was showed between the execution frequency and importance evaluation of job tasks(P<0.01).3.Variance analysis showed that task execution frequency of six dimensions of nurses in hospitals of various levels and the importance evaluation of two dimensionswas significantly different(P<0.05),such as “tasks related to medical therapy”and“meeting the basic needs of patients”;while tasks execution frequency of two dimensions of nurses in three regions were significantly different(P<0.05).It also shows that tasks execution frequency of five dimensions of nurses in different departments were significantly different(P<0.05).4.Univariate analysis' results showed that some factors such as occupation, institution type, medical department and region entered the regression equation(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Clinical newly registered nurses are younger and more female-oriented,and their initial and highest degrees are constantly improving. Most of the job tasks of nurses still focus on clinical basic nursing operation."Ensuring patient safety" is the most frequent and important task.2.The emphases and characteristics of clinical work tasks are changing constantly. For tasks with high frequency but low importance,it is necessary to enhance the recognition of the importance of admittance nurses, such as the importance of "communication";At the same time, increasing the frequency of nursing "Nursing Ethics/Law" in job tasks, such as the writing of standardized nursing documents; Finally,Cultivate and exercise the nursing education, scientific research and management ability of newly registered nurses as early as possible, and explore the potential of admission nurses.3.The examination syllabus should adjust the key points and the proportion of knowledge points according to the performance frequency and importance of the task.It should cover the characteristics of nurses' work tasks in different regions, different medical institutions as far as possible, and also should cover the basic nursing operation and nursing knowledge involved in all departments. At the same time, some neglected task items should also be paid attention to,such as "protecting patient privacy","shift management","recording and processing doctor's orders" etc.
