Purpose:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the difference of the pain, activities of daily living and clinical efficacy between the needling ashi point using the‘Si Hua Needling’ method and the ordinary arcupuncture method in treating lateral epicondylitis(LE)in order to explore the curative effect difference between the two, hoping to seek out one more simple and effective method for this disease.Method:This study incorporated LE patients who match the requirement to test group and control group via randomized controlled trial principle. The patients in test group accepting the needling ashi point using the‘Si Hua Needling’ method, while the patients in control group accepting the ordinary arcupuncture method whom both got treated every other day, every 3 treatments as one course, there were 2 courses, every course was separated by 2 resting days.Every patient was evaluated through the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),Activities of Daily Living(ADL),Average Single Duration of Pain and the Syndrome Points before the study, after the first treatment, after the first course, after the full course and1 month after the study so as to evaluate the difference of the two.Results:1.There were 30 patients in test group and 31 patients in control group. The age distribution, gender, course of disease and the other basic information in the two groups were identical in two groups.2.The Visual Analogue Scale:The VAS score were declined in both group;after each time node, excepting after full course, there were statistically significant between the two(P<0.05).3.Activities of Daily Living:The ADL score were declined in both group;after each time node, excepting after the first course, there were no statistically significant between the two(P>0.05).4.Average Single Duration of Pain:The efficacy of relieving the duration of pain needed at least one course for both group. There were no statistically significant between the two(P>0.05).5.Syndrome Points:Both program could reduce the syndrome points;there were no difference between the two(P>0.05).6.Overall efficacy evaluation:The total efficiency of the test group was 93.33%and the other was 90.32%.There were no statistical difference as far as was concerned of the safety and the compliance.Conclusion:1.The needling ashi point using the‘Si Hua Needling’ method could get good efficacy in treating lateral epicondylitis(LE).2.Both methods could relive the pain, while the needling ashi point using the‘Si Hua Needling’ method donated a quick effect and the sustained effect was longer than the ordinary arcupuncture method.3.Both methods could improve the activities of daily living, while the needling ashi point using the‘Si Hua Needling’ method was better after the first course.4.Both program could reduce the average single duration of pain without difference.
