Objective:To investigate the caries status, caries activity and growth and development status of children aged 3 to 5 years in Hohhot area.To understand the caries status of children aged 3 to 5 years in Hohhot, and provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of caries;Cariostat study was used to reveal the relationship between children’s oral acid production capacity and the status of dental caries, and to study the caries susceptibility,Take targeted preventive measures to reduce the incidence of dental caries to reduce the harm caused by dental caries;understand the growth and development status of children aged 3 to 5 years in Hohhot, and explore children’s dental caries, caries activity and growth in this area The correlation between development provides a reference for promoting children’s growth and development.Methods:1.Examination of the status of caries:Carry out an oral examination of the surveyed children and fill in the oral examination record form, record the number of missing teeth(dmft)and calculate the average caries and the rate of caries;2.Caries activity detection:Cariostat Caries activity was detected in children by the test method, and the value of caries activity(CAT)was recorded.CAT≤1.0 was a low risk of caries, and CAT≥1.5 was a high risk of caries.3.Growth and development evaluation:Measure the height and weight of the included children, calculate the body mass index(BMI),and calculate the Z scores of age-specific weight,age-specific height, and age-specific BMI according to the 2006 WHO child growth standards, respectively WAZ,HAZ,BAZ;4.Questionnaire survey:The questionnaire is filled out by the parents of the examinee.5.Statistical methods:Microsoft Excel 2016statistical software and SPSS 21.0 were used for data collation and analysis. The measurement data is expressed as (?)±S,and the count data is described as n(%).Measurement data were compared using the t-test when comparison was made between the two groups, and measurement data or grade data that did not meet the t-test conditions used the rank sum test.One-way analysis of variance was used for comparison among multiple groups.Chi-square test or Fisher’s exact probability test was used for comparison of categorical data.Rank sum test was used for graded data.P<0.05 was considered statistically significant for measurement data.Result:1.Caries:This study investigated 329 children aged 3 to 5 years in Hohhot.(1)In the baseline survey, the total caries rate was 79.33%,the caries were 4.43,the caries rate was 83.73%,and the caries were 4.53.The caries rate of girls was 74.85%,and all caries were 4.34.There was no significant difference in caries rate(χ~2=0.212,P=0.645)and caries(P=0.653)between different genders. The caries rate of children in the 3-year-old group was 77.88%.The caries rate was 79.13%in the 4-year-old group, and 4.62 caries were 4.62.The caries rate in the 5-year-old group was 80.91%,and the caries were 4.65.The caries of deciduous teeth increased with age.P=0.372)and caries prevalence(χ~2=0.628,P=0.731)were not statistically significant.(2)After 9 months of follow-up investigation, the total prevalence of caries in the same group was 83.89%,all caries were 5.45,the rate of caries in boys was 85.89%,the rate of caries was 4.53,the rate of caries in girls was 81.93%,and the rate of caries was 5.01.There was no significant difference in the prevalence of caries(χ~2=0.955,P=0.328)and the average caries(P=0.730).The caries rate of children in the3-year-old group was 82.69%and the caries were 4.69;the caries rate of children in the 4-year-old group was 82.61%.All caries were 5.72;the caries rate of children in the 5-year-old group was 86.36%,and the caries rates were 5.65.There was no significant difference in caries rate(P=0.153)and caries rate(χ~2=0.748,P=0.688)between different ages.2.Growth and development status:(1)In the baseline survey, the rate of growth retardation was 0.3%,the rate of low body weight was 1.22%,the rate of wasting was2.74%,the rate of overweight was 20.36%,and the rate of obesity was 16.11%.There was no statistical difference between different age groups.Significance(P>0.05);(2)In the follow-up survey, the rate of growth retardation was 0,the rate of low body weight was 0.3%,the rate of wasting was 3.04%,the rate of overweight was 20.36%,and the rate of obesity was 16.11%,which was the same as that at the baseline survey. There were no significant differences in gender and age(P>0.05).3.The relationship between caries, caries activity and growth and development:both baseline and follow-up surveys showed:(1)dmft was positively correlated with CAT(P<0.001);(2)caries were in different weight groups The difference was statistically significant(P<0.001),and there was no significant difference in caries incidence and caries activity among different body weight groups(P>0.05).The average caries, caries rate, and caries activity were in different BMI groups. The difference in children was statistically significant(P<0.001),and BMI was negatively correlated with caries incidence and caries activity.Conclusions:1.The total caries prevalence of 329 children aged 3 to 5 years in Hohhot is 79.33%.There is no significant difference in the caries prevalence among children of different genders. The dental caries of deciduous teeth increase with age and between different ages. There was no significant difference in the caries and the prevalence of caries.2.Cariostat test value can reflect the status of children’s caries. The higher the child caries activity test value, the higher the dmft.3.This study shows that there is a negative correlation between dental caries, caries activity and growth and development. As the BMI index increases, the dmft and CAT values show a downward trend.
