Research purposes: This scale is preliminary developed of a set of drug development clinical trial monitors selection and evaluation scales which is applicable to China’s medical and health fields to make up with the shortcomings of current selection and measurement tools for drug development clinical trial monitors in China,which is based on the standard process of scale development.The effectiveness of this scale is verified by reliability and validity test and exploratory factor analysis.It not only provides an effective and useful tool for filling the vacancies of the practitioners of drug development clinical trial monitors within the pharmaceutical companies,but also a convincing theoretical support for the improvement and enhancement of the general competencies of clinical trial monitors.Research method: First of all,to draft and determine the framework and structure of the scale and corresponding items,referring to Trait-Factor theory and through the literature research,and other methodologies;Then,to amend the scale based on the first draft by consulting,communicating and several interviews with senior target person,and to come up with the pre-test scale;Secondly,enrolled 51 subjects in the pre-survey,and conduct the analysis of the collected data via T-test and one-way ANOVA etc.After that,the items were filter,adjusted and modified further and eventually complied the final scale containing 111 items in total.Then 300 subjects were enrolled and conducted the survey with final scale,and the collected data was analyzed again using the accordance statistical approaches as well as Exploratory Factor Analysis.The outcome can be also referred to analyze the relationship and connection between personality traits of the subjects and their occupational matching.Research results: Through this investigation and data analysis,it is found that:(1)the professional ability and competencies of clinical trial monitors can be measured by the following dimensions: Interest characteristics,Personality characteristics,and Competency characteristics;(2)the scale has good reliability,α(Alpha)coefficient of subscale is between 0.796 and 0.868;(3)The scale has good validity.The exploratory factor analysis KMO values were all greater than 0.7,the bartlett sphere analysis was of high significance,and the principal component characteristics were basically in line with expectations.Each subdimension in each subscale was highly correlated with the subscale,while each subdimension was of low correlation and relatively independent.Research conclusions: 1.The content of the scale for drug development clinical trial monitors selection and evaluation meets the requirements of measurement,and has good discrimination,reliability and validity.It can be utilized as a tool for the selection and measurement of drug development clinical trial monitors.2.Through analysis,it is found that in the selection and measurement of drug development clinical trial monitors,different factors show different level of sensitivity according to individual characteristics.All factors should be considered comprehensively during candidate selecting,and on-job training.
