Objective To investigate the selenium and the expression of mi R-203a-3p in blood of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and their correlation.Methods A total of 33 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma admitted to the department of gastroenterology and oncology of Min Da hospital of Hubei Minzu University from December 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the experimental group and 33 healthy people with normal physical examination results during the same period were selected as the control group,and their peripheral blood and relevant clinical case data were collected at the same time.The level of blood selenium and the expression of mi R-203a-3p were detected by electrochemical analysis and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(q RT-PCR)respectively,and then the relationship with the clinical characteristics of patients was compared.The correlation between the level of selenium and mi R-203a-3p in blood was analyzed and the diagnostic value of mi R-203a-3p in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was evaluated at the same time.Results The level of selenium in the blood of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was(1.138±0.323)ug/ml,which was lower than that of the healthy control group(1.577±0.459)ug/ml,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The difference was not statistically significant with the stage,lymph node or distant metastasis,tumor growth site,gender,age,smoking and drinking of patients(P>0.05).The expression level of mi R-203a-3p in the serum of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(1.271±0.595)was significantly lower than that of the healthy control group(2.454±0.851),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The expression level was negatively correlated with the stage,lymph node or distant metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(P<0.05),but the difference was not statistically significant with gender,age,smoking,drinking and tumor growthsite(P>0.05).The correlation analysis of the level of blood selenium and serum mi R-203a-3p showed no statistically significant(r=-0.131,P=0.468).We evaluated the diagnostic values about the the expression level of serum mi R-203a-3p.The AUC of the area under the ROC curve for the expression level of serum mi R-203a-3p was 0.890(95%CI: 0.814-0.967).When the critical value was 1.880,the sensitivity and specificity were 87.9% and 75.8%,respectively.Conclusion The blood selenium level in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is lower than that of healthy controls,and low blood selenium level may be one of the risk factors for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.The expression level of mi R-203a-3p in the serum of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly lower than that of healthy controls,and its expression level was negatively correlated with the clinical stage,lymph nodes or distant metastases of patients.mi R-203a-3p was an anticancer gene of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and could be used as a molecular marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.There was no significant correlation between blood selenium level and serum mi R-203a-3p expression in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
