Objective By analyzing the correlation between the peripheral neuropathy of type 2 diabetes and the intima-media thickness of the carotid artery, the correlation between the peripheral neuropathy of type 2 diabetes and the macroangiopathy of type 2 diabetes is indirectly reflected, which provides scientific basis for the early diagnosis and prevention of the peripheral neuropathy of type 2diabetes in the future. Methods Seventy-seven patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to our hospital were divided into diabetic peripheral neuropathy group(DPN group,34 cases)and diabetic non-peripheral neuropathy group(NDPN group,43 cases)according to the presence or absence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.A total of 30 healthy subjects in outpatient health examination were selected as the control group.Collect some general information of patients with type 2 diabetes: gender, age, such as duration of diabetes, blood biochemical indicators: fasting serum c-peptide,fasting blood glucose(FBG),postprandial 2 hours blood sugar, glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),urinary inhibition C(CysC),c-reactive protein(CRP)and blood sedimentation(ESR).Will be included in all the cases were performed carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT)measurement.SPSS25.0 software was used to statistically process the differences among the groups. Results The carotid plaque rate was 10% in the control group,16.3% in the NDPN group and 44.1% in the DPN group. There were significant differences in plaque rates between the three groups(P<0.05).Comparing the general data and biochemical indexes of the DPN group and the NDPN group, the DPN group was older and had a longer disease course, and the FPG,HbA1 c,CRP,TC and CysC were all higher than the NDPN group. There were significant differences in CIMT between DPN group,NDPN group and control group, and the comparison between groups showed that CIMT in DPN group was significantly higher than thatin NDPN group and control group(P<0.05).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that CIMT(β=1.392,Exp(β)=4.023),FPG(β=0.757,Exp(β)=2.132)and CysC(β=1.632,Exp(β)=5.114)were all risk factors for DPN(P<0.05).Conclusion Thickening of carotid intima-media thickness is an risk factor for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and is positively correlated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is closely related to diabetic large vessel disease,so it is necessary to prevent and treat diabetic peripheral neuropathy in diabetic patients with carotid intima-media thickness thickening as soon as possible.
