| ObjectiveTo explore the value of multiple ultrasound parameters such as pulse wave velocity, change rate of carotid area, peak systolic velocity, end diastolic velocity,intima-middle thickness in the evaluation of carotid elasticity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.MethodsA total of 60 patients with type 2 diabetes and 30 healthy volunteers were examined by carotid ultrasound. The correlation of PWV with age,BMI and duration of disease was analyzed, and the differences of parameters between the diabetes group and the normal group were compared.ResultsES was positively correlated with age and duration of disease(all P < 0.05).The ES in the group with diabetes for more than 4 years was larger than that in the normal group and the group with diabetes for less than 4 years(all P < 0.05).The EDV in the diabetes group was smaller than that in the normal group(P < 0.05),and the change rate of carotid area and IMT in the diabetes group were larger than those in the normal control group(P < 0.05).ConclusionThe evaluation of carotid elasticity in patients with type 2 diabetes by multiple ultrasound parameters can help us to understand the changes of arterial wall elasticity during the course of atherosclerosis. |
