Objective:This study aims to comprehensively assess the prognostic value of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)level in pancreatic cancer(PC)patients by meta-analysis combined with relevant literatureMethods:Using computer retrieval according to the search terms PubMed,EMbase,Chinese CNKI,and WanFang,we collected the published literatures related to the correlation between LDH level and prognotic value of pancreatic cancer from inception to December,2019.After developing inclusion and exclusion criteria for screening literature, quality assessment and data extraction, and statistical analysis was performed using Stata 12 version of software to generate the total risk ratio HR and its corresponding 95%confidence interval(95%CI)with total lifetime(OS)as outcome indicatorsResults:This Meta analysis included 18 studies in a total of 3485 pancreatic cancer patients.the results suggest that high levels of lactate dehydrogenase in pancreatic cancer patients are associated with low OS(HR 1.60,95%CI 1.36-1.88,P<0.001).Subgroup analysis showed that the prognostic value of LDH was not related to the study area, number of patients, survival analysis method, treatment method, publication years.Although there was heterogeneity among subgroups(P<0.001),subgroup analysis results were consistent with the overall results, suggesting that serum LDH levels were associated with prognosis in patients with pancreatic cancer. At the same time the Egger test(P=0.463)showed no significant publication bias to prove the reliability of the resultsConclusion:The elevated serum lactate dehydrogenase levels were significantly associated with decreased OS,and LDH levels could be a useful predictor of prognosis in pancreatic cancer patients.
