Objective:To study the clinical characteristics, laboratory examination, imaging examination and pulmonary function results of 108 patients with bronchiectasis. To improve doctors’ understanding and attention to bronchiectasis and optimize the diagnosis and treatment management of bronchiectasis.Materials and Methods:We selected 108 patients from January 2018 to December 2019 who were hospitalized in the Department of Respiratory Medicine,China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University because of bronchiectasis.Their age, sex, age of onset, clinical symptoms, smoking history, past history, etiology, hemoinflammatory markers, microbiological examination, imaging examination and pulmonary function results were retrospectively analyzed All the data collected were processed and statistically analyzed by SPSS22.0 software.Results:1.The incidence of bronchiectasis in 70 elderly patients(64.8%)was higher than that of 38 non-elderly patients(35.2%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).There were 43 males and 65 females. The prevalence of bronchiectasis in elderly women(47/70,67.1%)was significantly higher than that of non-elderly women(18/38,47.4%),and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.045<0.05).2.The 41 elderly patients(58.6%)with wheezing symptoms were higher than that of 9 non-elderly patients(23.7%),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P=0.001<0.05).3.Idiopathic(52.8%)was the most common cause of bronchiectasis, followed by post-infection(27.7%).4.High resolution computed tomography(HRCT)showed that 82 cases(75.9%)had bilateral bronchiectasis and 77 cases(71.3%)had left lower lobe lesions.5.70 patients had lung function tests. There were 50 patients(50/70,71.4%)with abnormal pulmonary function and 27 patients(27/50,54.0%)were with obstructive ventilatory dysfunction.6.The mean value of C-reactive protein(CRP)in cystic group[(24.53±16.53)mg/L]was significantly higher than that in columnar group[(10.91±6.48)mg/L]and cystocolumnar group[(16.62±10.41)mg/L],and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The average value of redicted percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1%pred)in cystic group[(63.77±16.49)%]was significantly lower than that in columnar group[(75.04±13.36)%]and cystocolumnar group[(76.92±15.83)%],and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05)Conclusions:1.Bronchiectasis was more seen in elderly women2.Elderly patients with bronchiectasis were more prone to wheezing symptoms and infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa3.Idiopathic was the most common cause of bronchiectasis, followed by post-infection4.Bronchiectasis often showed diffuse changes and was most likely to involve the left lower lung5.The main change of bronchiectasis pulmonary function was obstructive ventilatory dysfunction.6.Cystic bronchiectasis was the most severe type in Reid classification.
