Objective: The purpose of this study is to understand the potential types of anxiety among junior high school students in rural of Jiangxi province, analyze and discuss the current status of anxiety and its related influencing factors. Finally, provide scientific reference for intervention measures to alleviate the abnormal anxiety among junior high school students. Methods: The survey adopted a multistage stratified cluster random sampling method. The survey targets students in grade 9 to 12 in a total of six counties-Yudu,Shangrao,Duchang,Fengcheng,Dongxiang District in Fuzhou, and Suichuan. In this survey, sample counties determine a sample township, respectively.A middle school in the town was selected as the sample school.A simple random sampling method is used to determine the sample class.First, the class size of the sample school is collected.Second,a random number table is used to determine a random number. The class size is added to the random number to determine the selected class. All the students in the randomly selected class are recruited in this study. We investigated the basic information and health risks behavior and the status of anxiety among junior high school students in the rural.Epidata 3.1 was employed to input data.SPSS 24.0 statistical software for basic analysis.Latent profile approach(LPA)was conducted in Mplus 7.4 in order to explore the potential classification of anxiety among junior high school students. The logistic regression was used in multi-factor analysis with the test standard set as α = 0.05.Results: A total of 965 questionnaires were issued in this study,of which 900 were finally valid, with an effective rate of 93.26%.The latent classes of anxiety of junior high school students by latent profile analysis revealed that 173 students were mildly anxious, accounting for 19.22%,504 students were moderately anxious, accounting for 56.00% and 223 junior high school students were of severe anxiety type, accounting for 24.78%.The male to female ratio of 900 junior high school students was 1.08 to 1.The multivariate logistic regression analysis of anxiety of junior high school students in rural area of Jiangxi province reveal that the probability of moderate anxiety in male is lower than female,OR=0.579,and 95% C.I of OR was(0.389,0.860).Junior high school students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very high are more likely to get moderate anxiety than students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very low,OR=7.563 and 95% C.I of OR is(3.026,18.902).Junior high school students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very high are more likely to get moderate anxiety than students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very low,OR =6.980 and 95% C.I of OR is(3.126,15.584).Smokers are more likely to get moderate anxiety than non-smokers,OR=2.483 and 95% C.I of OR is(1.177,5.239).Drinkers are more likely to get moderate anxiety than non-drinkers,OR =1.810 and 95% C.I of OR is(1.210,2.709).Male were less likely to get severe anxiety than female,OR =0.215,95% C.I of OR I s(0.131,0.353).Junior high school students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very high are more likely to get severe anxiety than students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very low OR =10.681 and 95% C.I of OR is(3.610,31.601).Junior high school students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is high are more likely to get severe anxiety than students whose self-assessment of academic pressure is very low,OR=5.243 and 95% C.I of OR is(1.925,14.280).Smokers are more likely to get severe anxiety than non-smokers,OR=3.972 and 95% C.I of OR is(1.760,8.965).Drinkers were more likely to get severe anxiety than non-drinkers,OR=2.171,95% C.I of OR is(1.330,3.543).Conclusion: The study revealed that the probability of moderate anxiety and severe anxiety in male is lower than female. The higher the self-assessment of academic pressure of junior high school students, the higher of the probability of abnormal anxiety.Junior high school students are advised to take part in outdoor activities. It is recommended to set up mental health counseling in schools and provide professional counselors to prevent serious anxiety for students.Parents should realize the importance of family environment to children’s mental health development,so as to provide children with healthy family, school and social environment.
